DACH Field Service Engineer

Reporting to the EMEAI Field Service Manager, this Field Engineer is responsible for Providing state-of-the-art onsite services (installation, preventive maintenance, break-fix/troubleshooting call-out, site survey etc.) and technical support to customers on our range of Auto ID products, in particular our range of Stationary Industrial Scanners and cameras.

Main responsibilities:

• Install (mechanical, electrical), configure and start-up (commissioning) Datalogic equipment at customer sites as per pre-defined specifications
• Maintain, re-stamp, adjust and replace onsite Datalogic devices of existing customer systems
• Follow rigorously safety and security onsite company procedures
• Escalate to upper technical level problems that can’t be solved independently
• Issue timely and accurate service reports (including expenses report)
• Extend or help building a respectful relationship with customers by always adopting an exemplary attitude

Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as electronics
• Languages: German (primary), then English
• Experience: Preferred is 2/3 years of prior experience on Field Service Activities in automation or other similar market with Electrical and Electronical devices.

Other Information & Specific Skills:
• Electrical & Mechanical Schematics reading.
• Troubleshooting and diagnostic experience of electromechanical and software.
• Good understanding of computer networks (LAN, VLAN)
• Good understanding of network protocol (TCP-IP, UDP, FTP, SFTP, HTTPS)
• Good understanding of serial communications (RS232 & RS485)
• PLC communications expérience (PROFINET, PROFIBUS, ETHETRNET-IP)
• Experience in working with Industrial Automation Devices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Software (MS Dynamics is a plus)
• Willingness to travel is important, 90% of the time the candidate will travel inside Germany, 10% is the maximum availability asked to travel outside the country.
• Be very flexible, and available to work also before the starting hour stated in the contract, or overnight. Availability to work on weekends (10-20% time a year).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Resident in Germany (Colonia, Dusseldorf area preferred)
