Job Description:

The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining industrial automation systems to ensure operational continuity and optimize production processes.

Role Objectives

Lead automation projects, manage resources, schedules, and budgets. Support and engineer solutions for control and automation systems, including existing and new systems. Oversee design, validation, and maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with HSE, quality, schedule, and budget goals.

How you’ll spend your day

  • Evaluate project feasibility and ROI using Six Sigma and Operational Excellence approaches.
  • Support Historian BO, design and modify DCS (Delta-V) and PLC systems.
  • Connect sensors/devices, develop automation strategies, and support maintenance.
  • Manage project phases from concept to commissioning, ensuring GMP compliance.
  • Lead vendor audits, select vendors, and oversee procurement.
  • Collaborate with vendors and engineering teams on system design.
  • Develop estimates, track costs, and manage schedules.
  • Handle design changes, impact analysis, and system validation.
  • Manage anomalies, maintenance, and validation activities.
  • Coordinate with IT, QA, Engineering, and Modernization teams.
  • Manage multiple projects aligning with strategic goals.
  • Define user requirements, prepare project plans, and ensure deadlines.
  • Ensure safety and quality standards are met.
  • Program and validate Delta V DCS systems, manage calibration for FDA inspections.
  • Lead CQV strategies and serve as contact for CQV-related matters.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Role Requirements

Education: Degree in Automation Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or related fields.

Experience: 3-5 years in a similar role within chemical API or pharmaceutical sectors; experience in regulated environments (GMP, FDA); automation system design and validation.

Technical Skills: Knowledge of DCS (Delta-V), PLC systems, IT tools, project management, and URS documentation; chemical process knowledge is a plus.

Soft Skills: Problem-solving, proactive, flexible, communicative, team-oriented, fluent in English.
