Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide 24x7 production support for Mainframe DB2 for z/OS databases.

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration, monitoring, and maintenance of our critical Mainframe DB2 for z/OS database environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. This role requires a proactive individual with extensive hands‑on experience in managing complex database systems and providing 24x7 production support.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24x7 production support for Mainframe databases, specifically IBM DB2 for z/OS.
• Administer, monitor, and maintain Mainframe DB2 databases in both production and non-production environments.
• Implement and manage comprehensive backup, recovery, performance tuning, high availability, and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies.
• Perform routine health checks, proactively identify performance bottlenecks, and optimize queries and database configurations.
• Automate routine operational tasks and reporting using Mainframe utilities, scripting languages (JCL, REXX, SQL), or job scheduling tools.
• Manage database security, user permissions, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry best practices.
• Collaborate effectively with application development and infrastructure teams to support deployment activities and resolve database-related issues.
• Monitor and resolve incidents, including conducting thorough root cause analysis and documenting resolutions.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date documentation of database procedures, configurations, and support processes for internal knowledge sharing and continuity.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands‑on experience as a DBA managing Mainframe database environments, specifically IBM DB2 for z/OS.
• Proven experience in providing 24x7 production support for critical database systems.
• Strong expertise in database administration, monitoring, maintenance, backup, recovery, tuning, high availability, and DR strategies.
• Proficiency in Mainframe utilities, scripting languages such as JCL, REXX, and SQL for automation and reporting.
• Solid understanding of database security principles and compliance requirements.
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related highly technical/scientific discipline.
• Preferred: Expertise with DB2 and general DBA management best practices.
