Qualifications

• Experience managing regional portfolios across multiple states.
• Proven expertise in credit assessment, underwriting, monitoring, and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Own credit risk and underwriting across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of six credit professionals.
• Establish and maintain strong underwriting standards across the zone.
• Monitor portfolio quality, credit performance, delinquency trends, and emerging risks.
• Identify portfolio-level risks and drive timely corrective actions.
• Partner with Sales, Collections, Operations, and Business teams to balance growth with credit discipline.
• Review high-value proposals and provide recommendations.
• Conduct branch and dealer credit audits and ensure policy adherence.
• Ensure compliance with credit policies, risk controls and regulatory requirements.
• Identify gaps in underwriting practices and recommend improvements.
• Provide zonal insights to contribute to national credit policy and strategy.
• Track key credit metrics and report to senior management.
• Drive consistency and best practices across credit teams.

Based in Hyderabad, this role will be responsible for maintaining strong underwriting standards, ensuring effective credit governance, monitoring portfolio performance, and leading a team of credit professionals.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience inNBFC or banking credit and underwriting, strong regional portfolio-management capabilities, and the ability to balance business growth with disciplined risk management.

Key Responsibilities

• Own credit risk and underwriting across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of six credit professionals.

• Review and evaluate complex or high-value credit proposals and provide appropriate recommendations.
• Conduct regular branch and dealer credit audits to ensure adherence to policies and processes.
• Ensure compliance with established credit policies, risk controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Identify gaps in underwriting practices and recommend improvements to strengthen portfolio quality.
• Provide zonal market and portfolio insights to contribute to national credit policy and strategy.
• Track key credit metrics and prepare regular reports for senior management.
• Drive consistency, accountability, and best practices across credit teams and locations.

• 12+ years of experience in credit, underwriting, risk management, or related functions within an NBFC or banking environment.
• Strong experience managing credit portfolios across multiple states or a large regional territory.
• Proven expertise in credit assessment, underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and risk mitigation.
• Experience leading and mentoring credit teams with responsibility for performance and outcomes.
• Strong understanding of credit policies, risk controls, compliance, and audit processes.

• Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to identify emerging credit risks.
• Excellent stakeholder-management and communication skills.

• Strong understanding of regional markets across AP, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.
• Proficiency in Telugu and/or Tamil will be an advantage.
