Weekday AI's client in Hyderabad is seeking an experienced Zonal Credit Manager - South Zone to lead credit risk, underwriting, and portfolio quality across AP, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. Based in Hyderabad, you will guide a team of credit professionals and ensure underwriting standards meet regulatory and governance requirements.

The ideal candidate has 12+ years in NBFC or banking credit, strong regional portfolio-management experience, and the ability to balance growth with disciplined risk

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in credit, underwriting, risk management in NBFC or banking.
• Experience managing credit portfolios across multiple states or a large regional territory.
• Proven expertise in credit assessment, underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and risk mitigation.
• Experience leading and mentoring credit teams with responsibility for performance and outcomes.
• Strong understanding of credit policies, risk controls, compliance, and audit processes.
• Demonstrated ability to balance business growth with portfolio quality and credit discipline.
• Telugu and/or Tamil language skills are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Own credit risk and underwriting across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of six credit professionals.
• Establish and maintain strong underwriting standards across the zone.
• Monitor portfolio quality, credit performance, delinquency trends, and emerging risks.
• Identify portfolio-level risks and drive timely corrective and preventive actions.
• Partner with Sales, Collections, Operations, and Business teams to balance growth with credit discipline.
• Review and evaluate complex or high-value credit proposals and provide recommendations.
• Conduct regular branch and dealer credit audits to ensure policy adherence.
• Ensure compliance with credit policies, risk controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Identify gaps in underwriting practices and recommend improvements.
• Provide zonal market and portfolio insights to national policy.
• Track key credit metrics and prepare reports for senior management.
• Drive consistency, accountability, and best practices across credit teams.

Based in Hyderabad, this role will be responsible for maintaining strong underwriting standards, ensuring effective credit governance, monitoring portfolio performance, and leading a team of credit professionals.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in NBFC or banking credit and underwriting, strong regional portfolio-management capabilities, and the ability to balance business growth with disciplined risk management.

Key Responsibilities
