RoleOverview
The X-Ray Technician will be responsible forcarrying out chest X-ray examinations as part of the project’s TB screening anddiagnostic activities. The role involves operating X-ray equipment safely andefficiently, ensuring appropriate patient positioning and image quality,maintaining radiation safety standards, and supporting timely documentation andreferral of individuals requiring further evaluation.
The X-Ray Technician will work closely with theDistrict Coordinator, Clinician, field teams, public health facilities, andrelevant TB programme personnel to ensure smooth and timely delivery of X-rayservices at designated project sites, schools, health facilities, or communitylocations.

KeyResponsibilities
X-RayImaging & Technical Support
- Perform chestX-ray examinations as per approved protocols and instructions from theclinical/project team.
- Operate X-rayequipment safely and efficiently and ensure that appropriate exposureparameters are used.
- Ensure correctpositioning of individuals to obtain clear and diagnostically useful images.
- Check imagequality and repeat examinations where technically necessary, while minimisingunnecessary radiation exposure.
- Support mobileor field-based X-ray screening activities, where required.
- Ensure thatX-ray images are appropriately labelled, stored, and transferred for furtherreview.
PatientSafety & Radiation Protection
- Follow allapplicable radiation safety procedures and institutional protocols.
- Ensureappropriate use of personal protective equipment and radiation protectionmeasures.
- Explain theprocedure clearly to individuals and address basic questions regarding theexamination.
- Takeappropriate precautions for children, vulnerable individuals, and othersrequiring additional support.
- Immediatelyreport any equipment malfunction, safety concern, or incident to the designatedsupervisor.
Documentation& Reporting
- Maintainaccurate records of all X-ray examinations conducted.
- Maintainscreening registers, examination records, and other project documentation asrequired.
- Ensure timelysubmission of daily/periodic activity reports to the designated projectsupervisor.
- Maintainconfidentiality of patient information, records, and diagnostic images.
- Supportcompilation of project data and documentation for monitoring and reportingpurposes.
Equipment& Quality Maintenance
- Conductroutine checks of X-ray equipment and related accessories before use.
- Reportequipment faults, breakdowns, or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Ensure properhandling, storage, and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Follow qualityassurance procedures and applicable statutory and organisational requirements.
- Maintain aclean, safe, and organised working environment.
Field& Team Support
- Participate inproject screening camps, community activities, and other field-based diagnosticactivities as required.
- Work closelywith field teams to ensure smooth patient flow and timely completion of X-rayscreening.
- Providetechnical guidance to field staff on requirements for X-ray examination andpatient preparation.
- Support otherproject-related activities within the scope of the role, as required.
Qualifications& Skills
- Diploma/Bachelor’sdegree in Radiology, Radiography, Medical Imaging Technology, or a relevantrecognised qualification.
- Minimum 4–7years of relevant experience as an X-Ray Technician/Radiographer.
- Experience inconducting chest X-rays and supporting TB screening or other public healthprogrammes is desirable.
- Experienceworking in community-based, mobile, or field screening programmes will be anadvantage.
- Knowledgeofradiation safety standards, patient positioning, and X-ray qualityrequirements.
- Ability towork effectively with clinicians, field teams, public health personnel, andcommunity members.
- Gooddocumentation and record-keeping skills.
- Ability tocommunicate effectively in English and the local language; knowledge of Hindiwould be an advantage for locations where required.
- Willingness totravel and work at different project locations, health facilities, schools, orcommunity sites as required.
