Job summary

Detroit Engineered Products (DEP) in India seeks an ED Designer - II with 6–8 years of hands-on experience in automotive wiring harness design and packaging. The role focuses on CATIA V5/V6 and 3DEXPERIENCE for harness routing, EMC compliance, and optimized architectures.

You will collaborate with EESE teams to define routing strategies and evaluate manufacturing feasibility, requiring a BE in Mechanical/Automotive/Electrical and Teamcenter experience.

Qualifications

• BE in Mechanical/Automotive/Electrical Engineering.
• Hands-on experience in automotive wiring harness design and packaging.
• Proficient with CATIA V5/3DEXPERIENCE and Teamcenter.

Responsibilities

• Wiring harness routing and interface resolution using CATIA V5/V6 and 3DEXPERIENCE.
• Define optimized harness architectures to reduce weight and cost while meeting EMC requirements.
• Collaborate with EESE team to develop concepts and design proposals.
• Lead technical design reviews and communicate challenges to engineers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
• Conduct benchmarking and packaging studies for electrical/electronic modules in vehicles.
• Understand Vehicle Architecture, Aggregates, Sub-Systems, and their packaging.
• Assess manufacturing and service feasibility for harness designs.
• Communicate effectively with program stakeholders and suppliers.

Job Description

• A highly skilled CAD professional with extensive experience in wiring harness routing, specializing in resolving complex interface challenges using the CATIA V5/V6 and 3DEXPERIENCE platforms.
• Expertise in defining optimized harness architectures and routing strategies that minimize weight and cost while ensuring full adherence to Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) requirements.
• Collaborate closely with the Electrical Electronics Systems Engineering (EESE) team to develop concepts and design proposals.
• Ability to independently handle technical design reviews, articulating harness design challenges to engineers, suppliers, and stakeholders to develop robust solutions.
• Prior experience in performing benchmarking studies packaging studies on electrical/electronic modules/systems and defining their locations in vehicle.
• Knowledge in Vehicle Architecture, Vehicle Aggregate Groups, Sub- Groups, Systems and Sub- Systems.
• Proficient in deciding manufacturing feasibility, assembly and service feasibility.
• Strong communication skill is mandatory to handle Program Stake Holders Suppliers.
• Good Knowledge in Teamcenter Engineering Vismockup.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and with team members.
