Job Description
Windchill Administrator is responsible for implementing, administering, maintaining, and supporting Kohler's global PTC Windchill PLM platform across Development, Test and Production environments. This role leads Windchill server management, infrastructure operations, system upgrades, rehosting, Vaulting, deployments, performance optimization, security, and platform availability. The position works closely with development, CAD, Infrastructure and Business teams to ensure a stable, scalable, secure, and high-performing PLM environment that supports business transformation and product development initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
- Administer, configure, upgrade, patch, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain Windchill servers, and infrastructure across all environments.
- Manage databases, CAD Workers, Office Workers, vaults, indexing services, and Remote File Servers.
- Perform Windchill maintenance activities, including WinDU, WinRU, revaluating, environment refreshes, rehosting, and vulnerability remediation
- Define and execute release management, deployment management, source control, and configuration management processes.
- Support code deployments, configuration changes, environment validation, and production releases.
- Ensure system availability, backup, disaster recovery, failover, security, and compliance requirements are met.
- Monitor system health, performance, capacity, and infrastructure utilization, and drive performance improvements.
- Perform issue resolution and root cause analysis and support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen platform stability.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, database, security, development, and vendor teams to support operational and project activities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, deployment guides, and support knowledge articles.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and support for team members and stakeholders.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Required
- Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 7–8 years of overall IT experience with a minimum of 6 years of hands-on Windchill administration experience.
- Strong experience with Windchill system administration, rehosting, deployment, release management, implementation, upgrades, migrations, patching, backup, disaster recovery, and production support.
- Experience managing Windchill environments across Development, Test, Disaster Recovery, and Production
- Hands-on experience with Windchill maintenance activities including WinDU, WinRU, vault management, CAD Workers, Office Workers, and Remote File Servers.
- Strong knowledge of Linux (RHEL), Cron job, Apache, Tomcat, LDAP, Active Directory, SSL certificates, and system security.
- Experience supporting Windchill server issues, performance tuning, monitoring, capacity planning, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
- Experience with Windchill Configuration, customization and System Integration.
- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools such as Azure Repos and Azure DevOps.
- Knowledge of Java, JSP, JavaScript, XML, JSON, SQL, Python and REST APIs.
- Experience workings in manufacturing domain or large enterprise environments
- PTC Windchill System Administration certification
