Qualifications

Job Summary

Leads the design, documentation, and implementation of welding processes for manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

Leads the work for multiple projects to create and implement all aspects of welding processes to ensure safety requirements, manufacturing goals, business goals, and product specifications are met. Leads by applying the knowledge or use of welding principles and practices to improve manufacturing equipment and processes for multiple projects. Leads the use of continuous improvement tools while following the Cummins standards. Leads the development of welding standards and working methods. Leads the communications with and influences key external stakeholders, business leaders, and functional members. Works with internal and external resources on multiple project assignments. Leads the advanced knowledge of welding principles and practices as they are applied to Cummins. Maintains relationships and coaches key stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of Welding Processes - Demonstrates understanding of the multiple welding processes used within the organization by properly designing for the appropriate manufacturing process to produce process robustness for quality and cost effectiveness.

  • Machine Programming - Creates factory floor machine programs by designing and implementing solutions to improve usage of machine and overall operation.

  • Process Layout - Creates and/or modifies an optimized manufacturing process by incorporating knowledge of equipment, human interfaces, sequences of production steps, and facilities requirements in order to reduce process time and waste.
  • Process Documentation - Produces written manufacturing procedures in proper sequence which are followed correctly by all approved stakeholders to establish continuity in processes and standardization.
  • Ergonomics Process and Workplace Design - Designs, creates or adapts processes and workstations by implementing ergonomic controls through the application of the Cummins ergonomic design guidelines to reduce risk and deliver ergonomically designed work.
Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience
  • Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.
  • Should support VPI and VPCR programs and ensure the mfg. readiness
  • Should understand GD&T and give the input to the DQR and DFM for VPI and VPCR Programs
  • Should be able lead cost reduction and Quality improvement project
  • Introduce the new and latest technology related to welding project
  • Should be able to lead the Mfg. project
