Job summary

Daskalos seeks a Website Engineering Lead to build and maintain high-performance WordPress websites. You will lead a small team of developers, review code, and uphold engineering standards while collaborating with Product and Marketing to drive website initiatives.

You will own theme/plugin development, integrate with Salesforce, optimize Core Web Vitals, and ensure reliable releases via robust CI/CD pipelines. Strong PHP/OOP and modern JS skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of professional WordPress development experience.
• Experience with PHP 8+ and OOP is required.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain custom WordPress themes, plugins, and reusable components.
• Develop solutions using WordPress APIs, hooks, filters, CPTs, taxonomies, metadata, REST APIs, and third-party integrations.
• Review code and ensure quality, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Coordinate and deliver website releases with the team.
• Optimize performance, Core Web Vitals, SEO, analytics, and Salesforce integrations.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and production releases.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve reliability.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Marketing, and developers to deliver enhancements.

Role Overview

We're looking for a Website Engineering Lead to build and maintain high-performance WordPress websites. You'll work closely with developers to deliver website enhancements, review code, maintain engineering standards, and ensure reliable releases. You'll also partner with the Product, and Marketing teams to deliver website initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain custom WordPress themes, plugins, and reusable components
• Develop solutions using WordPress APIs, hooks, filters, custom post types, taxonomies, metadata, REST APIs, and third-party integrations
• Review code and ensure high standards for quality, security, performance, and maintainability
• Work with developers to plan, coordinate, and deliver website releases
• Optimize website performance, Core Web Vitals, technical SEO, analytics, Salesforce integrations, and third-party services
• Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and production releases
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve website reliability
• Collaborate with the Product, Design, Marketing, and developers to deliver website enhancements

Required Skills & Experience

• 5–7 years of professional experience developing WordPress applications using PHP (PHP 8+) with strong OOP knowledge
• Strong expertise in:
• Custom WordPress themes and plugins
• WordPress hooks, filters, APIs, REST APIs, and Composer
• Custom Post Types, Taxonomies, and Metadata
• JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and Vanilla JavaScript
• Experience integrating Salesforce with WordPress using APIs or middleware
• Experience optimizing website performance and Core Web Vitals
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and automated testing
• Good understanding of MySQL, Linux, caching, CDN, HTTP, website security, and API integrations
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills

Nice to Have

• Experience with WordPress Multisite or enterprise WordPress projects
• Experience with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium
