Job summary

Daskalos is seeking a Website Engineering Lead to architect and oversee high-performance WordPress sites, guiding a team of developers in delivering reliable releases and scalable solutions for clients.

You'll collaborate with Product, Design and Marketing to drive website initiatives, review code, maintain engineering standards, and optimize Core Web Vitals, performance, and security. Strong PHP (8+), WordPress APIs, and CI/CD experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of professional WordPress development experience (PHP 8+)
• Strong OOP knowledge and PHP development

Role Overview

We're looking for a Website Engineering Lead to build and maintain high-performance WordPress websites. You'll work closely with developers to deliver website enhancements, review code, maintain engineering standards, and ensure reliable releases. You'll also partner with the Product, and Marketing teams to deliver website initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain custom WordPress themes, plugins, and reusable components
• Develop solutions using WordPress APIs, hooks, filters, custom post types, taxonomies, metadata, REST APIs, and third-party integrations
• Review code and ensure high standards for quality, security, performance, and maintainability
• Work with developers to plan, coordinate, and deliver website releases
• Optimize website performance, Core Web Vitals, technical SEO, analytics, Salesforce integrations, and third-party services
• Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and production releases
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve website reliability
• Collaborate with the Product, Design, Marketing, and developers to deliver website enhancements

Required Skills & Experience

• 5–7 years of professional experience developing WordPress applications using PHP (PHP 8+) with strong OOP knowledge
• Strong expertise in:
• Custom WordPress themes and plugins
• WordPress hooks, filters, APIs, REST APIs, and Composer
• Custom Post Types, Taxonomies, and Metadata
• JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and Vanilla JavaScript
• Experience integrating Salesforce with WordPress using APIs or middleware
• Experience optimizing website performance and Core Web Vitals
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and automated testing
• Good understanding of MySQL, Linux, caching, CDN, HTTP, website security, and API integrations
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills

Nice to Have

• Experience with WordPress Multisite or enterprise WordPress projects
• Experience with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium
