Job summary

The Corporate Institute seeks an accomplished Head of Research to lead and scale its Institutional Equity Research platform in Mumbai. Role Summary:

The Head of Research will lead, scale and commercialize the Institutional Equity Research platform by defining the firm’s research strategy, delivering differentiated and high-conviction investment ideas and enhancing the overall research franchise. The role is responsible for mentoring a high-performing team of sector analysts, strengthening relationships with institutional clients, leveraging technology to improve research quality and efficiency and driving broker votes, trading volumes and overall business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee the Institutional Equity Research function, defining the firm’s research strategy, thematic priorities, and sector coverage.
• Drive differentiated, high-conviction research aligned with market trends and institutional investor requirements.
• Oversee the publication of high-quality research, including initiating coverage reports, earnings updates, sector reports, macro strategy, and thematic publications.
• Leverage technology, AI, and process improvements to enhance research quality, productivity, and client engagement.
• Ensure analytical rigor, accuracy, and consistency across research reports, financial models, and valuation frameworks.
• Build and strengthen relationships with domestic and global institutional investors while enhancing the firm’s research franchise through corporate access, investor conferences, roadshows, and thematic events.
• Partner with Institutional Sales and Trading to convert research insights into actionable investment ideas, drive trading activity, and maximize broker votes and client rankings.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of research analysts, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability while building a strong talent pipeline.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to support the firm’s strategic and commercial objectives.
• Ensure full compliance with SEBI Research Analyst Regulations, internal governance standards, and all applicable regulatory requirements.

Candidate Profile:

• 18+ years of core Equity Research experience, with a proven track record in a leadership or team management role at a reputed sell-side institutional broker.
• MBA in Finance from a premier institute, Chartered Accountant (CA) or a CFA Charterholder.
• Proven experience leading an Institutional Equity Research platform or as a highly regarded Lead Sector Analyst within a leading sell-side brokerage or buy-side institution.
• Strong relationships with top-tier Mutual Funds, FIIs and other institutional investors, with a demonstrated ability to drive broker votes and institutional client engagement.
• Deep expertise in financial statement analysis, financial modeling, valuation methodologies and developing differentiated, high-conviction investment ideas.
• Strong commercial acumen with a proven ability to grow the research franchise and support institutional sales and trading.
• Demonstrated leadership with the ability to build, mentor, and retain high-performing research teams while fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
• Strong technology orientation with a focus on leveraging AI, innovation and process improvements to enhance research quality and productivity.
• Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to articulate complex investment ideas to sophisticated institutional clients.
