Job summary

Fichtner Consulting Engineers in Bengaluru seeks a Senior Process Engineer with 10-14 years of detailed engineering experience in water and effluent treatment. You will lead design efforts, develop process design bases, and ensure compliance with applicable standards.

The role requires coordination across multi-disciplinary teams, preparation of PFDs/P&IDs, and active participation in HAZOPs and project audits. Bengaluru-based position with client interfaces and field support.

Qualifications

• B.E./B. Tech in Chemical Engineering with 10 to 14 years of experience in detailed engineering for water treatment and effluent treatment systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop process design basis, design criteria, and system philosophies for water treatment systems.
• Perform process calculations and sizing of treatment units (clarifiers, filters, RO, etc.).
• Prepare PFDs, P&IDs, Mass Balance and Water Balance calculations.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams.
• Participate in HAZOP studies and design audits.
• Support construction and commissioning activities and engage with clients as needed.

Role & responsibilities

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Develop process design basis, design criteria, and system philosophies for Raw water & sea water and wastewater treatment systems.
• Perform process calculations and sizing of treatment units such as:
• Clarifiers
• Filters
• UF/MF systems
• Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems
• Ion Exchange (IX) systems
• Demineralization (DM) plants
• Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP)
• Sewage Treatment Plants (STP)
• Condensate Polishing Units (CPU)
• Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems
• Prepare Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Mass Balance and Water Balance calculations.
• Design and engineering of Raw water intake Systems, Sea water intake systems & Pretreatment.
• Develop chemical dosing systems for boiler, Deaerator, CW treatment etc
• Create and review process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), Equipment data sheets, equipment layouts, and general arrangement (GA) drawings.
• Prepare & review of Water Balance Diagrams and Water treatment schemes
• Perform hydraulic calculations, pressure drop calculations, pump sizing and pipe sizing.
• Prepare equipment specifications, data sheets, and bills of quantities (BOQs).
• Ensure designs comply with applicable standards and regulations, including:
• IS Codes
• CPCB/SPCB Guidelines
• Environmental Regulations
• AWWA Standards
• ASME and International Engineering Standards
• Coordinate closely with process, mechanical, civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams.
• Interface with vendors to resolve technical clarifications and conduct technical bid evaluations (TBE).
• Vendor drawing review of balance of plant water systems equipment and water treatment system equipment.
• Ensure all designs comply with project specifications, industry codes such as ASME, API, IS codes, CPCB, and environmental regulations.
• Participate in HAZOP studies, model reviews, and design audits.
• Support construction and commissioning activities and engage with clients as needed.
