Job summary

Alstom is seeking an experienced PRT Technician/Engineer in India to troubleshoot locomotive issues, ensure availability and reliability, and provide technical support to subcontractors and project teams. You will work with RAMS, PI Support, and field engineering groups to diagnose faults and implement repairs.

The role requires a Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, strong IT skills, and fluency in English, with a track record in locomotive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in electrical engineering, fluent in English, and proficient with standard IT tools.
• Minimum 3 years experience for Diploma and 1 year for Degree as troubleshooter/maintainer in Electric Loco shed.

Responsibilities

• Carry out troubleshooting during PI period and pre-warranty investigations and repairs.
• Carry out fleet check activities and ensure troubleshooting on locomotives per best practices.
• Ensure validity and certification of relevant tools used by the team.
• Populate and manage failure databases and ensure information flow within the troubleshooting team.
• Support operations helpdesk and adhere to EHS rules and customer processes on-site.
• Lead or assist the Troubleshooter team as needed and communicate interventions clearly.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

• Troubleshoot technical issues in locomotives, ensuring theiravailability and reliability. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams .
• Provide technical expertise to subcontractors, warranty support team, project team members and less experienced personnel.

Main Responsibilities

Key accountabilities

• Carry out Troubleshooting during PI period as well as Pre-warranty , including investigation and repair
• Carry out Fleet check activities
• Ensuring troubleshooting on locomotives according to best practices
• Ensuring validity and certifi cation of relevant tools
• Populating and managing failure databases
• Guaranteeing information flow within the troubleshooting team
• Contributing to reliability growth and return of experience
• Providing support in special cases
• Adhering to EHS rules and work-related processes .
• Reports & register any deviation (failure/event) in Failure Management data base including configuration data
• Support operation helpdesk
• Apply & enforce Alstom & customer EHS & security rules and relevant processes on customer site
• Execute test & trouble shouting procedures to evaluate system performance and performs failure analysis on parts to be returned for repair
• Support Implementation Field Modifications (FM operator), if required
• Support specific technical investigations by Engineering or internal/external Suppliers
• Recommends preventative and corrective actions
• Instructs and directs operators in field modification and repairs if needed
• Advises PI management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, and suggestions for product enhancements
• Ensure good information flow about interventions & operations within Troubleshooting to support shift transition, if needed
• Lead Troubleshooter team, if needed

Performance measurements

• Achievement of contractual availability (milestone) targets
• Characterization of K1S/K2/K3 issues on time (considering K1S – safety relevant issue, K2 – issue causing major passenger service disruption, K3 – issue having impact on service availability and product reliability)
• Completeness and Quality of failure/event diagnosis/data recorded in Defect Management data base
• Availability of configuration update data
• Audit results (internal and external)
• Customer satisfaction of technical expertise
• Compliance with EHS rules and work-related processes
