Job summary

Fortis Bengaluru invites applications for a Senior Resident/Registrar in General Surgery. The role requires diagnosing and managing general surgical patients, assisting and performing elective and emergency operations, and providing comprehensive perioperative care.

Candidates must hold MS/DNB in General Surgery with a minimum of 3 years as Senior Resident/Registrar and valid KMC registration. Shift work including nights and on-call is expected, with emphasis on teamwork and patient management.

Qualifications

• MS/DNB in General Surgery from a recognized institution.
• 3 years of experience as Senior Resident/Registrar in General Surgery.
• Valid KMC registration is mandatory.
• Strong clinical knowledge and surgical skills for elective and emergency cases.
• Ability to work in rotational shifts, including night duties and on-call.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and patient management skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, evaluate, and manage patients with general surgical conditions.
• Assist and independently perform elective and emergency surgical procedures.
• Provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative patient care.
• Attend emergency calls, trauma cases, and surgical emergencies on rotation.
• Daily ward rounds and monitor patient progress.
• Evaluate OPD and IPD patients, formulate treatment plans and maintain records.
• Coordinate with consultants, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and departments for patient care.
• Ensure adherence to hospital protocols, infection control, and patient safety.
• Supervise junior residents, interns, and nursing staff when required.
• Participate in clinical meetings, CMEs, audits, and quality improvement activities.
• Maintain medical documentation and comply with statutory/ accreditation standards.
• Provide patient and family counseling regarding treatment plans and post-op care.

Preferred candidate profile:

• Experience: 03 years as a Senior Resident/Registrar in General Surgery.
• Registration: Valid KMC registration is mandatory.
