Job summary

Vitality Healthcare is seeking a Consultant / Senior Consultant in General and Laparoscopic Surgery to diagnose, treat, and manage elective and emergency surgical cases across OPD, OT, ICU and IPD. You will perform open and laparoscopic procedures, oversee pre- and post-operative care, ensure patient safety, and maintain surgical documentation, logs, and informed consent in line with NABH standards.

Requirements include MBBS with MS in General Surgery or DNB; active State Medical Council/NMC

Qualifications

• MBBS with MS in General Surgery or DNB in General Surgery; FMAS/FIAGES fellowship desirable.
• Active State Medical Council / National Medical Commission (NMC) registration.
• 1 to 5+ years post-MS/DNB with hands-on exposure to basic and advanced laparoscopic procedures.
• Core skills include laparoscopic surgical skills, emergency triage, intra-operative crisis management, patient counseling, and post-op wound care.

Responsibilities

• Perform elective and emergency open and laparoscopic procedures (e.g., cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repairs, bowel resections, emergency laparotomies, and minor surgical procedures).
• Conduct OPD consultations, assess surgical candidates, direct pre-operative preparation, oversee IPD care, daily rounds, and post-operative management.
• Handle emergency surgical calls, acute abdomen cases, and surgical trauma triage in coordination with the ER and ICU teams.
• Ensure patient safety protocols, surgical site infection control, and sterile procedures are followed in alignment with hospital NABH/quality standards.
• Complete surgical logbooks, operation notes, discharge summaries, and informed consent documentation accurately.
