Job summary

Med-Engage in Pune seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to support patient care, registration, and sample collection. You will perform venipuncture, process samples, and ensure accurate labeling and handling in line with SOPs.

Responsibilities include safe sample processing, adherence to NABL standards, and delivering courteous, professional service while addressing patient inquiries and feedback.

Qualifications

• DMLT / BMLT / B.Sc. (Medical Laboratory Technology) or equivalent required or by experience.
• Certified phlebotomy training preferred.
• Experience in a diagnostic laboratory is an advantage.

• Perform venipuncture and sample collection for adults and children.
• Verify requisitions, process, centrifuge, store and package samples according to SOPs.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

1. Patient Care & Registration

• Welcome patients professionally and verify their identity before sample collection.
• Guide patients regarding test requirements, fasting instructions, and sample collection procedures.
• Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and confidentiality throughout the visit.
• Address patient queries courteously and escalId concerns when required.

2. Blood & Sample Collection

• Perform venipuncture, capillary puncture, and collection of other biological specimens as per SOPs.
• Collect samples from adults, children, elderly patients, and difficult veins using appropriate techniques.
• Ensure correct patient identification and sample labeling before dispatch.
• Minimize patient discomfort while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

3. Sample Handling & Processing

• Verify test requisition forms and match them with collected samples.
• Process, centrifuge (where applicable), store, and package samples according to laboratory protocols.

4. Quality & Safety Compliance

• Follow NABL and company quality standards.
• Adhere to infection prevention, biomedical waste management.
• Report sample rejection, incidents, or non-conformities to the supervisor.

5. Customer Service

• Deliver excellent patient service and maintain professional behavior.
• Handle patient feedback and complaints promptly and courteously.
• Promote a positive patient experience aligned with Metropolis Healthcare's service standards.

Preferred candidate profile

• DMLT / BMLT / B.Sc. (Medical Laboratory Technology) or equivalent.
