Role & responsibilities
Mechanical Design Engineer SPM & Automation Design
Structural Engineering & Product Design
- 3D Machine Design & Modeling:
- Create 3D models and assembly layouts for SPMs, high-pressure testing rigs, leak test systems, and automated machinery using UG NX (Unigraphics/Solid works).
- Design machine mechanisms, structural frames, sheet metal enclosures, and custom fixtures.
- 2D Drafting & Detailing:
- Generate accurate 2D manufacturing/shop-floor drawings using AutoCAD with proper GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), fits, and surface finish symbols.
- Bill of Materials (BOM) & Component Selection:
- Prepare detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) for fabrication, machining, and standard bought-out parts.
- Calculate and select pneumatic/hydraulic cylinders, valves, linear motion guides, ball screws, gearboxes, and motors.
- Design Calculations & P&ID:
- Perform basic mechanical stress, cylinder force, and torque calculations.
- Prepare Pneumatic and Hydraulic P&ID flow diagrams for machine operation.
- Shop-Floor & Assembly Support:
- Coordinate closely with assembly technicians, fabricators, and PLC programmers during machine building, trial, and Pre-Dispatch Inspection (PDI).
- Resolve design modifications and fitting issues on the shop floor quickly.
