Job summary

Team Lead – US Payroll

Location: Chennai
Experience: 5+ years in US Payroll
Education: Graduate/Postgraduate in HR, Finance, Commerce or related field

Role Summary

We are looking for a Team Lead – US Payroll to manage end-to-end payroll operations, statutory compliance, taxation, payroll controls, audits and team management. The candidate should have strong knowledge of US payroll laws and regulations and be comfortable working with HR, Finance, employees and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end US payroll processing and ensure timely and accurate payroll closure.
• Prepare Head count reconciliation report for all new Joiners in US.
• Ensure all US New Joiners are enrolled for benefits in Kelly and 401K
• Understand all stat deductions and validate whether all workings are as per timesheets approved and overtime workings are as per login and logout data.
• Check on adjustments and additional payout done.
• Make sure proper approvals are in place before processing an input
• Validate the inputs loaded in ADP workforce before processing the paychecks
• Coordinate with ADP team and check periodically if all compliance filings are done within TAT
• Prepare Monthly US Cost reports and share to Finance
• Prepare deduction master based on employees benefit enrollment
• Establish and maintain effective payroll controls, reconciliations and audit processes.
• Prepare payroll journals, provisions and cost reports for Finance.
• Support internal, statutory and payroll audits and ensure timely closure of observations.
• Monitor changes in payroll legislation and implement required changes.
• Manage payroll-related employee queries and resolve discrepancies within SLA.
• Lead guide and monitor the payroll team and ensure productivity and quality.
• Coordinate with HR, Finance, Tax, HRIS/IT and payroll vendors.
• Drive payroll process improvements, automation and standardization.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of relevant US Payroll experience, preferably with team-handling experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Advanced MS Excel skills, including formulas, Pivot Tables, lookups and payroll analysis.
• Good PowerPoint and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage payroll deadlines.
