Job summary

Tata AutoComp Systems Limited is seeking a senior mechanical/automotive engineer to lead closure systems design in Chennai. You will work on hoods, fenders, doors, and related components, coordinating with cross-functional teams across regions to ensure timely, cost-effective product releases.

The ideal candidate has 8–12 years in closure systems design, proficiency in UG NX/CATIA, and experience with PLM. You will support supplier development, design reviews, and compliance with internal

• Education: BE/BTech in Mechanical/Automotive/Electrical engineering.

Responsibilities

• Execution of robust, quality, cost and weight efficient designs for successful launch while meeting program objectives.
• Support standardization, re-use, harmonization, benchmarking, and lessons learned in domain, applying corporate best practices.
• Develop technical solutions, supplier coordination, ensure part quality for builds, build process development, root-cause issues, and technical integrity in changes.
• Support product diversity definition per KPI requirements with Vehicle Program team, Product planning, Brand and Supplier.
• Support Source Package development.
• Ensure conformity to Internal Control System rules.

Description

• Support to ensure Closure component / system project, being consistent with quality, performance, time, and costs objectives and being supported by specialized areas.
• Support to ensure Cross functional team co-ordination on development and practices in a specific collaborative project with other regions.
• Understanding Homologation and Regulation compliance for all the Closure system components and support for implementation.
• Support to ensure for the Engineering, Design, Development, Timing and Product release of Closure components.
• Other responsibilities will include supporting supplier (internal/external) development activities, weight and cost reduction opportunities, development, and validation of assigned components.

Task / Deliverables

• In the area of competence can be responsible for:
• Support Manager/ lead for Execution of robust, quality, cost and weight efficient designs that ensures successful launch while meeting program objectives.
• Support standardization, re-use, harmonization, benchmarking, and lessons learned activities in his/her domain, ensuring the application of corporate technical best practices.
• Support team to develop technical solutions, supplier co-ordination, ensure part quality for builds, build process development, root-cause issues, verify best practices read across and technical integrity in case of changes
• Support product diversity definition per KPI requirements along with Vehicle Program team, Product planning and Brand and Supplier
• Support for Source Package development.
• Within his/her responsibilities he/she must support to guarantee the conformity to Internal Control System rules.

QUALIFICATIONS, eXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Qualifications/Skills and Experience:

• Education: B.E. / B. Tech. / M. E / M. Tech Mechanical / Automotive / Electrical engineering.

Experience:

• Minimum of 8 to 10 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of 8 to 12 years of experience in Closure related systems design and application. CAD design experience UG NX / CATIA

Essential Skills

• Design and Feasibility studies of Hoods, Fenders, Liftgates, Tailgates, Side Doors, Hardware, and Sealing Systems, Door Modules, Manual Tops.
• Should support for technical reviews with glass, Window regulator, modules, tops and sealings supplier and sort out development related issues.
• Support Design studio, Vehicle integration milestone issues resolution.
• Experience in UG NX / CATIA in a production release environment
• Experience in Team Centre / PLM
