Job summary

HSBC in Hyderabad is seeking a Senior Business Manager within Risk & Compliance CoE to partner with Lines of Business and global functions. You will translate management information into clear decisions, challenge assumptions and drive performance improvements in a fast-moving, international environment.

You will coach a team, lead governance and planning cycles, and coordinate cost and FTE plans, while building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and delivering practical outcomes

Responsibilities

• In this role, you will share good practice globally, lead a team and build trusted relationships across the function.
• Partner with the Global R&C CAO wider team and senior leaders to understand priorities, performance and delivery challenges across assigned Lines of Business and Global Sub-functions.
• Use centrally produced financial, workforce and performance information to build a clear view of what is changing, why it matters and where leadership action is required.
• Identify trends, risks, opportunities and emerging themes, connecting information across teams to generate ideas for improved performance, effectiveness and service delivery.
• Challenge assumptions and test whether plans, resources and investments remain aligned to business priorities.
• Use scenario analysis to explore choices, trade-offs and potential outcomes for the relevant Sub-function or Line of Business.
• Support decisions on consultancy, third-party spend, hiring and out-of-plan requirements by assessing business need, value and alignment to priorities.
• Track agreed actions and outcomes, helping leaders understand whether interventions are delivering the intended impact.
• Support senior leaders across Lines of Business and Sub-functions with integrated business management covering performance, people, priorities, governance and organisational effectiveness.
• Create clear leadership narratives from centrally produced Management Information, focusing discussion on decisions, actions and opportunities rather than reporting alone.
• Coordinate business planning and governance rhythms, ensuring priorities, dependencies and actions remain visible and connected.

The Risk & Compliance (R&C) function is HSBC’s Second Line of Defence, responsible for reviewing and challenging the activities of the Group’s businesses to ensure effective risk management. With a global headcount of ~14,000 and annual costs of ~$1.5bn, R&C is evolving its operating model, requiring robust oversight, administration, and management. This role is pivotal in supporting the R&C CAO CoE, driving operational excellence, and enabling strategic objectives in a dynamic, highly scrutinized environment. The role holder needs to understand the impact of all these changes on Risk & Compliance and HSBC and support the Global R&C COO, Global R&C CAO and Head CAO CoE as necessary. The role holder will be required to interact with many internal and external parties at the highest level of management and therefore needs an outstanding level of professionalism and gravitas. As a Senior Business Manager within the R&C CoE, you will be a strategic partner to Lines of Business and Global R&C Sub-functions, helping leaders turn centrally produced financial, workforce and performance data into clear decisions and practical action. You will connect insight with business context, identify risks and opportunities, generate ideas to improve performance and help shape priorities across the function. Reporting to the R&C Head of CAO CoE India, you will work with global, regional and business stakeholders to translate information into a compelling performance story, challenge assumptions and coordinate delivery. Financial analysis and tracking remain important; however, the core data and reporting are produced centrally. Your value will come from interpreting what the data means, asking the right questions and enabling timely, well-informed choices.
