Job summary

HSBC in India is seeking a finance professional to join the Global GTS team to support end-to-end Opco reporting, budgeting, and profitability analyses. You will deliver monthly and quarterly analyses, board-ready packs, and commentary to aid senior leadership decisions.

The role requires a qualified accountant with 4+ years post-qualification in Financial & Management Reporting, plus experience with reporting tools like Qlik, Python, and Tableau.

Purpose of the role

The role holder will be supportingGlobal GTS team. Key responsibilities include end-to-end support of Opco reporting, Business finance reporting, FRP/ Forecasting processes, Cost reporting and Customer Profitability. The role holder will require to provide thought driven ideas to bring process improvements and support the business partners with enhanced analysis. Support solution design and working with various business stakeholders to ensure these meet their future needs to manage expectations, complexity of the process, and engagement levels in relation to areas of query management / exceptions handling.

In this role, you will:
  • Undertake the preparation of monthly Opco reports, Sub Product reports, Client Profitability MIs and support analytical reviews. Further, undertake Actuals vs. Forecast/Target analysis and end to end ownership of data, reporting and analysis and value adding commentaries. Collation and preparation of Annual Operating Plan/Latest Estimate/Outturn for HSBC group. Support preparation of Board packs, CEO dashboards.
  • Perform analysis implementing existing/ new financial models and take measures to provide strategic support for various planning related activities. Responsible for conducting research, perform and present moderate to complex financial analysis, coordinate and collaborate with business partners to develop financial assumptions and explain rationale for conclusions drawn.
  • Cost Reporting role covers accurate and timely preparation & submission of data (including journals) into ledgers & reporting systems; Producing commentary and analysis of key variances. Ensuring data validations and reconciliations across various processes including allocations, accruals etc.; extending strategic support to requests raised for ad-hoc analysis.
  • The role involves submissions, review & approve and reconciliations of P/L and balance sheet financials. The process also requires ensuring strong controls & assurance, reference data reviews and cross team collaboration enabling accurate data, reporting & analysis of client profitability financials.
  • The role holder will also be responsible for query management; supporting change projects, deploying automations & visualizations and work closely with other BFO and in-country stake-partners.
  • Responsible for research, perform and present moderate to complex financial analysis, coordinate and collaborate with business partners to develop financial assumptions and explain rationale for conclusions.
  • Responsible for analysing, investigating, and explaining key movements and trends in major P&L lines. Collaborate with global businesses to understand the drivers behind variances between Forecast/ Actuals to Target.
  • Perform quarterly analysis of competitors’ data to uncover trends, patterns, and root-cause relationships between different impact factors and bringing together multiple perspectives. Preparation and review of average balance sheets: review of average balance sheets includes identifying trends and understanding reasons behind significant movements.
  • Contribute independently to the delivery of FRP/Forecasting. Undertake review of Business/Function Framework changes, related UAT and ensuring proper implementation. Responsible for ensuring the data integrity in MI Actuals via establishment of effective control procedure.
  • Contribute to and participate in the review and challenge of FRP/Forecasting/ Boundary Changes and Budgeting. Deliverables from this role feeds into critical decision-making process at senior leadership meetings including quick turnaround on adhoc queries.
To be successful you will:
  • Qualified Accountant (CA, CWA, MBA, PG Commerce, Graduate Commerce), +4 years of post-qualification experience in Financial and Management Reporting preferred.
  • Any Science/Arts graduates with relevant experience in Financial Planning & Analysis processes with strong working knowledge of reporting and automation tools i.e., Qlik, Python, Tableau and Qliksense
  • Strong working knowledge of Financial Systems or Data Consolidation model/s is key (e.g., Omnia, TM1, HUB, FTP, and other similar systems) - Preferred
  • Knowledge or experience of data mining, analysis, financial statements, audit/controls
  • Commercial acumen - Good knowledge of banking business drivers, P&L covering revenue and cost and balance sheet highly desirable
  • Ability to plan, lead and implement change to business frameworks. Strong communication and ability to interact with multiple employee levels/business partners
  • Create culture of innovation, experimentation (including failure and learnings from those failures), sharing and collaborating.
  • Understanding of, and interest in how new technology may be leveraged to improve reporting processes and controls.
