Responsibilities

• Admit patients and perform procedures independently as per hospital policy.
• Conduct in-patient rounds independently and with junior consultants and duty medical officers.
• Mention operation notes and post-operative plan of care in the medical record.
• Supervise registrars and ensure that they discharge their duties in an effective and efficient manner.
• Verify the examination findings and medication orders written by the junior consultants and registrar.
• Impart relevant patient education as and when required.
• Mention date, time, name and signature against all entries in the medical record.
• Countersign verbal orders given to DMOs, Jr. Consultants and Registrars as needed.
• Prepare the rota in coordination with the registrar on call and on call rota with colleagues.
• Attend to patient’s complaints reported by registrars or nursing staff as required.
• Give discharge orders as per patient conditions and inform registrar/resident to do the needful.
• Attend to all emergencies while on call.
• Impart training to the residents and registrars.
• Abide by hospital policies and procedures and ensure quality standards.
• Conduct medical research to aid in disease control, investigate new medications, and test new techniques.
• Be a thesis guide for fellows, residents and PhD candidates.
• Coordinate and direct work of nurses, medical technicians and other health care providers.
• Inform staff about Cardiac Intervention administration, signs of complications, and emergency methods.
• Manage Cardiac Services and coordinate with other medical activities and formulate plans and procedures.
• Must take part in ongoing teaching activities and organize workshops, seminars, and conferences at various levels.

Job description

• To impart training to the residents & registrars.
• To abide by the policies & procedures of the Hospital.
• To help ensure compliance with Quality standards & closure of the non-conformities.
• Research:
• Conduct medical research to aid in controlling and curing disease, to investigate new medications, and to develop and test new medical techniques.
