Job Purpose:
To examine and diagnose patients referred for the specialty, including pre and post-procedure care for patients.
Job Responsibilities:
- GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
- To be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
- To interact and communicate and develop good relations with other departments and ensure teamwork and co-operation amongst staff.
- To attend to patient’s complaints reported by the registrars or nursing staff as & when required
- To actively promotes practices that save company resources and minimize wastage.
- To comply with hospital policies, Quality Standard, etc.
- To place high priority on achieving customer satisfaction.
- To be able to adhere to patient confidentiality, medical records management.
- To adhere to proper immunization, vaccination and maintain hand hygiene.
- CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITY
- To provide patient care via outpatient consultations and inpatient rounds as per the privileges bestowed.
- To assess the patients on admission, take detailed history and physically examine the patient
- To analyze patient's medical history, medication allergies, physical condition, and examination results to verify operation's necessity and to determine best procedure.
- To examine patient to obtain information on medical condition and procedural risk.
- To be responsible for sending the patient for the appropriate cross referrals & investigation
- To follow established techniques during the procedure
- To prescribe preoperative and post- procedure treatments and procedures, such as sedatives, diets, antibiotics and preparation and treatment of the patient's operative area
- To check the dosage, frequency, route of administrations of all medications, considering all precautions.
- To continually monitor and review patient progress and adjust the management plan when necessary
- To complete the In-Patient rounds daily and fill the case sheets and progress notes without fail.
- To be responsible for providing adequate treatment to the patient as advised.
- To supervise/ coordinate with the nurses, residents, and other medical staff to ensure proper medical care to the patient
- To do patient/patient relative counselling and provide advice about diet, exercise, and other lifestyle matters
- To take appropriate initiatives in Medical Emergencies when required.
- To prepare the discharge summaries and brief the patient about the medications on discharge.
JOB SPECIFICATION
Education: MBBS, Post Graduation/Superspecialisation in specialty.
Registration: Registered under any state Medical Council recognized by MCI
