Job summary

The New Indian Express is seeking an experienced Videographer/Cameraman to join our content team in Chennai. The role focuses on high-quality video capture for social media and digital platforms, working closely with editorial and production teams to deliver compelling visual stories under tight deadlines.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years of hands-on camera experience, solid lighting and audio skills, and a keen eye for storytelling in a fast-paced news/entertainment environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Visual Communication, Film Studies, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience as a Videographer or Cameraman for social media, podcasts, interviews or news/entertainment content.
• Hands-on experience with professional camera equipment and on-set video production.
• Strong understanding of camera operations, framing, lighting, and audio recording.
• Knowledge of shot composition, visual storytelling, and working to tight deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with editorial and production teams.

The role involves capturing high-quality video content for social media and digital platforms while collaborating closely with the editorial and production teams to create engaging visual content.

The successful candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of camera equipment, framing, lighting, composition, and audio recording, along with the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining high production standards.

• Shoot and capture high-quality video content for social media and digital platforms.
• Operate and handle professional cameras during shoots, ensuring proper framing, lighting, composition, and audio capture.
• Collaborate closely with the editorial and production teams to understand content requirements and creative vision.

• Ensure proper lighting, composition, framing, and camera angles during shoots.

Requirements:
