Job summary

Shala is seeking a creative Video Editor to own editing across Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms. You will turn raw footage into polished content with strong storytelling, pacing, and visual flair, delivering end-to-end edits for short-form and long-form formats.

In this remote full-time role, you will craft captions, motion graphics, and sound design, maintain brand language, and collaborate with content and marketing teams.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of professional video editing experience.
• Strong portfolio of reels, shorts, and long-form YouTube content.
• Proficiency in Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setup.
• Solid sense of pacing, storytelling, and visual aesthetics.

Responsibilities

• Edit Instagram Reels, shorts, and YouTube content end-to-end.
• Create engaging edits with storytelling and visual flow.
• Interpret briefs and bring creative ideas to the edit.
• Select shots and structure videos for impact.

Job description

We're looking for a creative and skilled Video Editor who can take ownership of video editing across Instagram, YouTube, and other digital platforms. You should have a strong eye for storytelling, pacing, visuals, and detail, and be able to turn raw footage into engaging, polished content.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit Instagram Reels, short-form videos, and YouTube long-form content end-to-end.
• Create engaging edits with strong storytelling, pacing, transitions, sound design, and visual flow.
• Understand content briefs and independently bring creative ideas to the edit.
• Work with raw footage, select the best shots, and structure videos for maximum impact.
• Add text, captions, motion graphics, basic animations, B-roll, music, and sound effects where required.
• Maintain consistency with the brand's visual language and tone.
• Create different cuts and formats of content for various platforms.
• Collaborate with the content, creative, and marketing teams.
• Stay updated with current editing styles, formats, and social media trends.
• Have 3 - 4 years of professional video editing experience.
• Have a strong portfolio of Reels/short-form and YouTube long-form videos.
• Are proficient in tools such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent.
• Have a basic understanding of graphic design, typography, composition, and visual hierarchy.
• Have a strong creative eye and can make editorial decisions independently.
• Understand what makes content engaging without needing every detail to be explained.
• Have a good sense of pacing, storytelling, music, sound, and visual aesthetics.
• Are detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working independently in a remote setup.
• Experience with motion graphics/animation is a plus.
