Key Responsibilities
Credit Assessment & Underwriting
  • Evaluate LAP proposals sourced through SME sales channels.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis of borrowers, including review of financial statements, bank statements, GST returns, Income Tax Returns (ITR), and cash flow assessments.
  • Assess borrower repayment capacity, business viability, and overall credit risk.
  • Analyse property valuation reports, legal opinions, title documents, and collateral adequacy.
  • Structure credit proposals considering borrower profile, cash flows, collateral coverage, and risk appetite.
Credit Decisioning
  • Approve or recommend credit proposals within delegated authority limits.
  • Ensure adherence to internal credit policies, risk guidelines, regulatory requirements, and audit standards.
  • Identify and mitigate risks through suitable loan structuring, covenants, and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Escalate exceptions and high-risk cases with appropriate recommendations.
Stakeholder Management
  • Partner closely with SME Business, Sales, Credit Operations, Legal, Technical, and Collections teams.
  • Provide guidance to sales teams on credit requirements, documentation, and policy interpretation.
  • Participate in customer discussions and site visits, where required, for complex cases.
Portfolio Risk Management
  • Monitor portfolio quality, delinquency trends, and early warning signals.
  • Support portfolio reviews and identify sectors/accounts requiring enhanced monitoring.
  • Drive corrective actions for stressed accounts in coordination with Risk and Collections teams.
  • Ensure portfolio growth aligns with acceptable risk parameters.
Process & Governance
  • Drive improvements in underwriting quality, TAT, productivity, and customer experience.
  • Maintain robust credit documentation and audit readiness.
  • Support policy reviews and implementation of new credit programs and risk frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, internal audit, and risk governance requirements.
Requirements
  • 15-20 years of experience in Credit Underwriting, Credit Risk Management, or SME Lending.
  • Strong experience in Loan Against Property (LAP), Mortgage Lending, and Secured Lending.
  • Proven track record in evaluating and approving large-ticket SME credit proposals.
  • Experience in portfolio risk management, delinquency monitoring, and credit decisioning.
  • Exposure to property-backed lending, collateral assessment, and legal/technical evaluation processes.
  • Strong expertise in financial statement analysis, cash flow assessment, and credit appraisal.
  • In-depth understanding of SME lending products and secured lending structures.
  • Knowledge of property valuation, legal documentation, title verification, and collateral management.
  • Strong credit underwriting, risk assessment, and loan structuring capabilities.
  • Sound understanding of regulatory guidelines, internal credit policies, and risk governance frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Educational Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • MBA (Finance), CA, CFA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
