Responsibilities

  • Define and lead DRF’s Program Management, IT & Operations strategy aligned with IIT Bombay’s goals.
  • Translate donor priorities and faculty research into structured, scalable programs.
  • Build partnerships with faculty and stakeholders to shape opportunities into initiatives.
  • Establish standardized governance and end-to-end lifecycle management including planning, budgeting, milestones, and risk management.
  • Drive end-to-end reporting cadence and real-time dashboards for visibility and decision‑making.
  • Oversee IT roadmap, CRM/donor systems, and data infrastructure for transparent impact tracking.

About us:

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, set up in 1958 as the second IIT, is recognised worldwide as a leader in the field of science and engineering education and research. The Institute was granted the status of 'Institution of Eminence' by the Ministry of Education (the then Ministry of Human Resources Development) on July 9, 2018. IIT Bombay is reputed for the quality of its faculty, cutting-edge research, industry relations, and the outstanding caliber of students graduating from its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The Institute has 17 academic departments, 64 other academic entities (Centres/ Programmes/ Academic facilities/ Hubs/ Externally funded centres and Labs), and three schools. Over the last six decades, more than 75,000 engineers and scientists have graduated from the Institute. It is served by 756 faculty members, with 121 women faculty, and about 150 visiting and part-time faculty, considered not only amongst the best within the country but also highly recognised in the world for achievements in the field of education and research. On June 19, 2025, IIT Bombay was ranked 2nd in India and 129th in the world in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings for 2026.

The Development and Relations Foundation (DRF), established as a Section 8 not-for-profit entity under the Dean Alumni & Corporate Relations (ACR) office, serves as a strategic arm dedicated to advancing IIT Bombay’s vision of global leadership. DRF plays a pivotal role in fostering meaningful, long-term partnerships with alumni, corporations, and philanthropic foundations - transforming goodwill into sustained philanthropic support It empowers the Dean ACR’s mission by driving fundraising initiatives, stewarding donor relationships, and ensuring transparency in managing philanthropic contributions

From personalized donor engagement to overseeing financial accountability and impact reporting, DRF ensures that every philanthropic effort translates into lasting progress for the Institute’s academic, research, and infrastructure growth.

Job Purpose

Lead the end-to-end Program Management, IT & Operations function for IIT Bombay Development and Relations Foundation (DRF). Act as the strategic bridge between donor intent and institutional execution by translating research and funding opportunities into structured, measurable, and scalable programs.

Build and institutionalize a data-driven execution engine—combining governance, digital systems, and operational rigor—to ensure all donor-funded initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and with high transparency and impact.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Program Management
  • Define and lead DRF’s Program Management, IT & Operations strategy aligned with the Institute’s strategic goals
  • Translate donor priorities and faculty research into well-structured, sustainable programs
  • Build strong partnerships with faculty and stakeholders to shape emerging opportunities into scalable initiatives
Program Governance, Delivery & Reporting
  • Establish and operationalize programs with standardized governance frameworks
  • Drive end-to-end lifecycle management: planning, budgeting, milestone tracking, risk mitigation, and change management
  • Ensure timely and high-quality reporting cadence (quarterly and as committed)
  • Maintain <5% deviation across timelines, budgets, and deliverables across programs
  • Build and track program dashboards for real-time visibility and decision-making
  • Ensure seamless coordination across departments, proactively managing dependencies and risks
IT & Data-Driven Infrastructure
  • Own and drive DRF’s technology roadmap, enabling scale, transparency, and efficiency
  • Implement and optimize CRM, donor management systems, dashboards, workflow tools, and automation solutions
  • Build a data-driven operating model, with centralized reporting and analytics capabilities
  • Architect end-to-end data flows enabling real-time tracking of programs, donor commitments, and impact metrics
  • Ensure data integrity, governance, and accessibility across systems
  • Establish a robust change management framework (application CRs, hardware requests, website updates, content management within TAT)
  • Oversee IT asset and configuration management (licenses, hardware lifecycle management)
Operations & Process Excellence
  • Design and implement SOPs across program management, data management, and donor lifecycle processes
  • Identify and eliminate process redundancies, driving simplification and alignment across business workflows
  • Drive process efficiency, turnaround improvements, and cross-functional coordination
  • Lead automation initiatives to enhance scalability, repeatability, and accuracy
  • Introduce and scale AI/ML-driven interventions in research, analytics, and operational processes
  • Drive cost optimization of cloud and IT infrastructure
Stakeholder & Donor Management
  • Ensure high-quality donor engagement through structured reporting, transparency, and responsiveness
  • Strengthen internal stakeholder management across faculty ,departments and leadership
  • Expand and institutionalize engagement with new stakeholder groups on a quarterly basis
  • Translate donor and stakeholder feedback into program improvements and future opportunities
Organizational Capability Building
  • Mentor teams across Program Management, IT & Operations
  • Develop institutional capability in program planning, budgeting, and execution at scale
  • Foster a culture of execution excellence, accountability, and data-driven decision-making
  • Continuously refine frameworks based on performance insights and evolving organizational needs
Desired Profile
