Responsibilities

• Identify and assess potential vendors and suppliers for components.
• Collaborate with procurement and sourcing to evaluate and select vendors based on quality, cost, and lead time.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
• Negotiate terms and pricing with vendors to align with project requirements and budget.
• Work with engineering, design, manufacturing to ensure components meet standards and integrate into designs.
• Oversee selection of components based on project specs and ensure smooth integration.
• Collaborate with QA to establish testing protocols for vendor components.
• Monitor performance and address issues related to reliability, compliance, or performance.
• Maintain documentation of vendor agreements, specifications, and test results.
• Update technical documentation and ensure product requirements meet regulatory standards.
• Continuously monitor industry trends and work with vendors on improvements and cost reductions.

Purpose of the position

We are seeking a Vendor Development professional to join our product development team.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end lifecycle of vendor-supplied components, ensuring their integration into our products, and optimizing the design and performance of these components in collaboration with external suppliers.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in vendor management, component engineering, and a strong technical understanding of product development.

Key Responsibilities

• Vendor Management:
  • Identify and assess potential vendors and suppliers for components needed in product development.
  • Collaborate with procurement and sourcing teams to evaluate and select vendors based on quality, cost, and lead time.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components.
  • Negotiate terms and pricing with vendors, ensuring contracts are aligned with project requirements and budget.
• Component Selection & Integration:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, manufacturing) to ensure components meet functional, performance, and safety standards.
  • Oversee the selection of components based on project specifications, including hardware, software, or other materials.
  • Ensure smooth integration of vendor components into product designs while meeting timeline and cost constraints.
• Quality Assurance & Testing:
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to establish testing protocols for vendor components.
  • Monitor component performance throughout development and production, addressing any issues related to reliability, compliance, or performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with vendor components that arise during product development, testing, or post-launch.
• Documentation & Compliance:
  • Ensure all vendor components comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of vendor agreements, component specifications, and test results.
  • Update technical documentation and specifications as needed, and ensure that all product requirements are met in line with regulatory standards.
• Continuous Improvement:
  • Continuously monitor industry trends and best practices for vendor components and materials.
  • Work with vendors to implement improvements and cost-reduction opportunities while maintaining quality and performance.
  • Conduct regular reviews of vendor performance and make recommendations for process improvements.
