Zeno is looking to hire a Vehicle Quality Assurance Engineer, in this role, you will ensure that Zeno’s electric motorbikes meet the highest standards for quality, safety, and reliability.

An unprecedented energy transition has begun. To meet 2040 net zero goals, over 2 billion electric two-wheelers (motorcycles) must be sold and $11 trillion in fuel consumption replaced. Zeno is building a tech platform to electrify this two-wheeler market, currently responsible for more than 4% of the world’s GHG emissions. Our mission is to accelerate the energy transition and democratize the benefits across Africa, India, and Latin America. With a focus on East Africa as a starting point, Zeno is building a new energy ecosystem with ground-up development of a fundamentally better electric motorcycle and associated battery swap network to drive a better experience for our customers.

The Role

As a Vehicle Quality Assurance Engineer, in this role, you will ensure that Zeno’s electric motorbikes meet the highest standards for quality, safety, and reliability. You will lead quality assurance efforts across the entire product lifecycle, from design and prototyping to production and post-launch support. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and a passion for delivering exceptional products.

What You Will Do

• Develop and implement a comprehensive quality assurance framework for Zeno’s electric motorbikes, encompassing all stages of the product lifecycle.
• Collaborate with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to define and enforce quality standards for vehicle components and systems.
• Work with all the suppliers on frequent basis to establish regular quality checks and quality assurance processes
• Analyze quality data, including test results and field performance metrics, to identify trends, root causes, and areas for improvement.
• Contribute in supplier assessment process, create supplier evaluation reports and ratings and propose quality improvement plan
• Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure incoming components and assembled products meet Zeno’s quality standards.
• Drive the resolution of quality issues, coordinating cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of quality processes, test results, and improvement initiatives to support compliance and continuous improvement efforts.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements for vehicle safety and quality.

What You Bring

• 5-8 years of experience in quality assurance or a related role in the automotive or electric vehicle industry.
• Strong understanding of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and best practices, including root cause analysis, FMEA, and Six Sigma principles.
• Hands-on experience with vehicle-level testing, validation, and inspection processes.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and the ability to work closely with suppliers and assembly partners.
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, with the ability to use data to drive quality improvements.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively work across functions and with external partners.
• A proactive and detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality products.
• Passion for electric vehicles and a deep commitment to Zeno’s mission of driving the energy transition.

Great to Haves

• Experience with electric two-wheelers or motorcycles, particularly in quality assurance or testing roles.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards and certifications related to vehicle quality and safety.
• Familiarity with the unique challenges of ensuring quality in emerging markets, including considerations for infrastructure and environmental factors.
• Past experience at an EV startup is not required but highly preferred.
