Job summary

Oben Electric, a Bengaluru‑based EV OEM, seeks a Senior Manager – Quality (IPQC) to lead in‑process quality control across vehicle assembly. You will drive process quality standards, control plans, PFMEA, SPC/MSA and CAPA, and mentor the IPQC team while coordinating with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, R&D and Supplier Quality.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of experience in automotive/EV quality.
• Strong IPQC / In‑Process Quality Control experience.
• Experience in vehicle assembly quality preferred.
• Experience with RCA, 8D, CAPA, 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto.
• Knowledge PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC, MSA, APQP.
• Experience monitoring FTR/FPY, rejection, rework, PPM and field/customer complaints.
• Exposure to EOL testing / functional testing of vehicles.
• Experience collaborating with Production, ME, R&D and Supplier Quality teams.
• Experience leading and developing a Quality/IPQC team.

Responsibilities

• Lead IPQC activities for two-wheeler/EV assembly.
• Establish process quality standards, inspection criteria and control plans.
• Drive First Time Right, FPY, PPM, rejection and defect reduction initiatives.
• Conduct regular process/product and layered process audits.
• Ensure adherence to SOPs, work instructions, control plans, specs and parameters.
• Monitor critical-to-quality characteristics and implement poke‑yoke/Mistake-proofing.
• Lead RCA and CAPA for internal, customer and field quality issues using quality tools.
• Drive containment and corrective actions for repeat defects and line‑quality issues.
• Collaborate with Production, ME, R&D and Supplier Quality to resolve issues.
• Establish and monitor EOL testing and functional inspection for vehicle assembly.
• Ensure traceability of critical components and process parameters.
• Lead SPC, MSA and Cp/Cpk improvement initiatives where applicable.
• Support new product development, pilot builds and process validation from a quality lens.

Oben Electric is a Bengaluru-based electric motorcycle OEM with in‑house design, development, engineering, testing and manufacturing capabilities. The company manufactures electric motorcycles and critical EV components including batteries, motors, VCUs and chargers.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Manager – Quality with strong hands‑on experience in IPQC / In‑Process Quality Control within the automotive two‑wheeler or EV industry. The role will be responsible for driving process quality, vehicle assembly quality, defect prevention, process audits, quality systems and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead IPQC / In‑Process Quality Control activities for two‑wheeler/EV vehicle assembly.
• Establish and monitor process quality standards, inspection criteria and control plans across manufacturing lines.
• Drive First Time Right (FTR), FPY, PPM, rejection, rework and defect reduction initiatives.
• Conduct regular process, product and layered process audits to identify quality gaps.
• Ensure adherence to SOPs, work instructions, control plans, inspection standards and process parameters.
• Monitor critical‑to‑quality characteristics and ensure effective poka‑yoke / mistake‑proofing implementation.
• Lead RCA and CAPA for internal, customer and field quality issues using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto and other quality tools.
• Drive containment and corrective actions for repeat defects and line‑quality issues.
• Work closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, R&D, Supplier Quality and Service teams to resolve quality issues.
• Establish and monitor EOL testing and functional inspection for vehicle assembly.
• Ensure traceability of critical components and process parameters.
• Drive SPC, MSA, process capability (Cp/Cpk) and statistical quality improvement initiatives wherever applicable.
• Support new product development, pilot builds and process validation from a quality perspective.
• Review and improve PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow, Inspection Standards and SOPs.
• Drive supplier‑related quality issues in coordination with SQE/Supplier Quality teams.
• Lead quality improvement projects, Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Prepare and review daily/weekly/monthly quality MIS and management dashboards.
• Develop and mentor the IPQC/Quality engineering team.

Must-Have Experience

• 10–15 years of experience in Quality within the automotive / two‑wheeler / EV manufacturing industry.
• Strong and demonstrated experience in IPQC / In‑Process Quality Control.
• Experience in vehicle assembly quality is highly preferred.
• Strong exposure to process audits, product audits and line quality.
• Experience with RCA, 8D, CAPA, 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto and problem‑solving methodologies.
• Good knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC, MSA and APQP.
• Experience in monitoring FTR/FPY, rejection, rework, PPM and customer/field complaints.
• Exposure to EOL testing / functional testing of vehicles.
• Experience working closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, R&D and Supplier Quality teams.
• Should have experience managing and developing a Quality/IPQC team.

Preferred

• Experience in electric two‑wheelers / EV manufacturing.
• Exposure to battery, motor, VCU, charger and electrical/electronic component quality would be an advantage, given Oben's vertically integrated EV manufacturing setup.
• Experience in a fast‑paced OEM/start‑up manufacturing environment.
• Engineering degree in Mechanical / Automobile / Production / Electrical / Electronics.
• Six Sigma / Quality certification will be an added advantage.

Two‑wheeler OEM + 10–15 years Quality experience + strong IPQC ownership + Vehicle Assembly Quality + Process Audit + RCA/CAPA + PFMEA/Control Plan + EOL + team management.
