Job summary

Larsen & Toubro Ltd in Bengaluru seeks a Vehicle Integration Engineer - MCU to lead vehicle-level integration, calibration and validation of motor control units for EVs and hybrids. You will ensure seamless interaction between MCU, motor, power electronics, battery system and vehicle controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering or related discipline.
  • 4-8 years of experience in vehicle integration of motor control systems or power electronics.
  • Strong understanding of electric motors (BLDC, PMSM, induction) and motor control strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with vehicle communication networks (CAN, Ethernet).
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and ASIL compliance for powertrain systems.
  • Experience with vehicle testing, calibration, and validation of MCUs.
  • Familiarity with diagnostics, fault analysis, and HIL/SIL testing.
  • Understanding of vehicle electrical architecture, wiring harnesses, and ECU integration.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink with traction motor integration in EVs or hybrids.
  • Familiarity with battery management systems and regenerative braking coordination.
  • Exposure to on-road testing and chassis dynamometer validation of motor control systems.
  • Experience with model-based calibration and tuning for motor control loops.
  • Knowledge of OTA updates and ECU software lifecycle management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple integration tasks across vehicle programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead vehicle-level integration of MCUs with motors, inverters and battery systems.
  • Define vehicle-level requirements and interfaces for MCU integration.
  • Conduct system testing, calibration and validation of motor control performance.
  • Support on-vehicle testing and commissioning including torque verification.
  • Coordinate with hardware, software and algorithm teams for MCU functionality.
  • Perform fault diagnostics, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
  • Contribute to ISO 26262 and ASIL compliance at the vehicle level.
  • Implement vehicle calibration strategies for motor control loops.
  • Support prototype and pre-production vehicle integration and wiring harness validation.
  • Develop and maintain test plans and integration documentation.
  • Collaborate with OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers to meet milestones and quality objectives.

Vehicle integration-EV Business Unit: EPS Automotive Electronics Role: Vehicle Integration Engineer - MCU (Motor Control Unit)

The Vehicle Integration Engineer - MCU is responsible for the vehicle-level integration, calibration, and validation of Motor Control Units (MCUs) in electric and hybrid vehicles. This role ensures seamless interaction between the MCU, motor, power electronics, battery system, and vehicle control systems, delivering high performance, reliability, and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the vehicle-level integration of MCUs with electric motors, inverters, battery systems, and vehicle control units.
  • Define vehicle-level requirements, interfaces, and communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet etc.) for MCU integration.
  • Conduct system-level testing, calibration and validation of motor control performance, torque management and efficiency.
  • Support on-vehicle testing and commissioning, including torque verification, motor response and thermal behavior evaluation.
  • Coordinate with hardware, software and algorithm teams to ensure MCU functionality aligns with vehicle performance requirements.
  • Perform fault diagnostics, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for MCU and motor-related issues.
  • Contribute to Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and SOTIF compliance at the vehicle level, including ASIL verification and safety case development.
  • Implement and monitor vehicle-level calibration strategies for motor control loops, torque ramping and regenerative braking.
  • Support prototype and pre-production vehicle integration, wiring harness validation and ECU configuration.
  • Develop and maintain test plans, verification reports and integration documentation.
  • Collaborate with OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, and cross-functional teams to meet program milestones and quality objectives.
