Job summary

RGBSI in Delhi invites an experienced Costing Engineer to drive should-costing, BOM optimization, and teardown analysis for consumer products. You will model costs, capture product details, and develop cost insights in a structured format for stakeholders.

The role requires presenting actionable recommendations, collaborating with suppliers and internal teams, and translating complex data into clear business insights. Strong communication and data skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or mechatronics engineering.
  • 5+ years’ work experience in product costing or manufacturing/new product development.
  • Experience with vertically integrated manufacturers or suppliers of consumer product goods is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • 50% Should Costing: use cost modeling tools to determine BOM costs and insights on product costs.
  • 20% Product Teardown: perform teardown in lab and develop BOM from dimensions and processes.
  • 20% Communicating Results: present cost analytics insights and recommendations to technical/non-technical partners.
  • 10% Business Collaboration: provide engineering guidance and build cross-functional trust.

Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • 50% Should Costing Use organization cost modeling tools to determine the bill of material costs as to provide insight to the manufactured costs on product basis.
  • 20% Product Teardown Perform teardown in an engineering lab environment and develop bill of materials by capturing dimensional parameters and manufacturing process details of product components and entire assemblies.
  • 20% Communicating Results Conduct financial and value-based calculations, summarize the findings from cost analytics for the business in presentation format and communicate the insights and recommendations to both technical/non-technical business partners. Present recommendations and influence execution of recommendation.
  • 10% Business Collaboration – Provide product engineering guidance and knowledge/evaluations. Effectively develop trust and collaboration with internal customers and cross-functional teams.

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or mechatronics engineering.

5+ years’ working experience in product costing or manufacturing and/or new product development.

Experience working with vertically integrated manufacturers and/or working directly with suppliers who develop consumer product goods is desired.

Work experience in competitor research and Best-in-Class competitor analysis.

Experience in handling big data and familiarity with data science principles/practices is a plus.

KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • Good working knowledge of various materials comprising of metal/ plastic/ ceramic/ glass/ wood/ textiles.
  • Understanding of different manufacturing process and process cost calculations
  • Knowledge on Printed Circuit boards manufacturing and costing is a plus.
  • Product manufacturing/assembly and understanding of Bills of Materials.
  • Proficient in using the measuring instruments - calipers, micrometer, and scales
  • Ability to use Boothroyd Dewhurst DFM/DFMA costing software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite - Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with industry practices to track global commodity and labor data.
  • Ability to develop and apply mathematical/statistical techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to understand market intelligence reports, customer personas, and industry trends.
  • Analyze/assess findings, generate insights through reports, dashboards and presentations.
  • Ability to convey complex or technical ideas/processes in easy-to-understand terms to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to assimilate large cost data sets and summarize analytics into business insights and presentations.
  • Strategic mindset and action oriented.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
