Job summary

Tata Advanced Systems Limited is seeking a UAV operations specialist with 2–5 years of experience to conduct flight operations for prototype UAVs, including fixed-wing and VTOL platforms. You will support mission planning, payload operations and data analysis in collaboration with military and civilian customers.

Responsibilities include launching and recovering aircraft with an External Pilot, operating sensor suites, ensuring safety compliance, and developing test plans and SOPs.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of UAV operation experience.
• Experience with fixed-wing and VTOL platforms is desirable.
• Ability to conduct mission planning, flight tests and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Conduct flight operations of prototype UAVs (fixed wing and VTOL).
• Plan missions including payload operations and safety checks.
• Launch and recover aircraft with External Pilot and coordinate with flight team.
• Operate sensors and collect mission data per requirements.
• Review airspace requirements and ensure compliance with flight regulations.

Job description

Required years of Experience: (2-5) years of experience

• To conduct flight operations of prototype small UAVs (both fixed wing and VTOL)


• To support military and civilian customer operations and carry out demonstration flights


• To contribute to design, development and operational adaptation of new UAVs to meet customer requirements


• To carry out mission planning for UAV operations, including payload operations


• To launch and recover aircraft, conduct UAV flying (both Fixed wing and VTOL) in team with External Pilot


• To operate various sensor systems as required by the mission


• To understand technical and operational limitations and laydown safety criteria accordingly


• To participate in mission / task briefings and post flight debriefs / data analysis


• To review airspace requirements and operate systems safely and within the applicable flight regulations; or as specified by the customer requirements


• To prepare Test plans, Checklists and SOPs for conduct of UAV operations


• To assist in UAV maintenance, preparation, troubleshooting and lab testing


• To coordinate within the flight operations team for planning and execution of flight tests


• To assist in spares / components / inventory management of Unmanned Aerial System.


• To carry out proper documentation of UAV maintenance, testing and flight operations


• Understanding of UAV operations


• Interest in radio controlled aerial vehicles, at least two years of experience as UAV operator


• Ability to perform outdoor assignments, in extreme climatic conditions (for short periods)


• Ability to lift and carry 20 kg of load unassisted for short distances

Technical Know/How

• UAV Design and development, subsystems, components


• Adequate computer literacy; should be proficient in MS Office tools


• Willing to travel frequently to field locations


• Keen learner, attention to details


• Good communication skills; both written and oral
