Experience: 10 - 20 years
- Instrumentation and Controls Engineer with 8+ years’ experience in Oil and Gas Industry (Upstream Oil and Gas / Downstream Refinery Units)
- Conducts Hazard & Risk Assessments, allocates safety requirements to the SIS, and defines functional safety requirements
- Participates in Hazard Operability (HAZOP) reviews and SIL assessment studies in line with industry standards, regulatory requirements IEC61508 and IEC61511
- Experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of control systems (e.g., Emerson Delta V DCS, Honeywell HC900 Safety PLC, Rockwell, Schneider Electric), VMS (Meggitt VM 600), TFMS (Honeywell Enraf), CCTV systems, ACS, FAP, and Terminal Automation systems
- Prepares and reviews SIL assessment reports for various technologies and verifies SIL verification reports
- Collects vendor data, analyzes instrument failure rates, failure modes, and costs for different configurations
- Handles packages like Flare, Cooling Towers, Pumps, Desalter, Heaters, Reactors, Fans, Compressors, PSA, custody metering skids, etc.
- Finalizes guidelines and specifications for vendor instrument deliverables
- Reviews quotations, prepares technical questionnaires, and manages custody transfer metering skids
- Manages machinery control and vibration monitoring systems from Bentley Nevada
Typical Tasks:
- Conducts HAZOP-LOPA reviews, generates safety instrumented functions, and assesses risk reduction factors
- Models new SIFs and performs IL calculations
- Updates SIFs and develops Safety Requirements Specifications (SRS)
- Outlines testing requirements, schedules, and procedures
- Manages change within scope of work, considering equipment redundancy, reliability, and maintainability
- Guides the team on work processes, procedures, and quality policies
- Ensures technical integrity and compliance of all instrument engineering activities
- Coordinates with suppliers and represents the discipline in technical meetings
- Mentors and trains team members, providing timely solutions to issues
Mandatory Certifications:
- Certified TUV Rheinland Functional Safety Engineer with at least 5+ years of relevant experience
Preferred Software Skills:
- SPI InTools, Conval 9 & 10, IES 3, MS Office, Navisworks, Python
