Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Mumbai, India is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer (MBI) with 2–6 years of experience to perform planning, modelling, analysis and design using PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole and PLS-Tower, including foundation design. The role involves structural analysis of lattice towers, cross-disciplinary collaboration, client interaction, and travel as needed.

Strong communication and problem-solving are essential, with readiness to work on multiple projects and adhere to standards such as NESC

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical or civil engineering.
• 2–6 years of power transmission experience.
• Proficient in English.
• Knowledge of design codes like NESC, IEC, IEEE, ANSI is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform transmission line planning, modelling, analysis and design in PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole and PLS-Tower, foundation designs etc.
• Structural analysis and design of lattice towers and line poles (Steel, LD, Wood) and loading framing trees, plan & profile drawings, authority permit drawings, wire sag and tension analysis, develop design criteria, and create BOMs and estimates.
• Monitor and provide regular updates to the section manager to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
• Provide technical engineering expertise to identify, analyze and resolve problems.
• Plan, organize, estimate, schedule and monitor all work activities.
• Support project team to develop engineering solutions; communicate with clients.
• Travel within India and possibly abroad to support assignments.
• Advance in career by taking increased engineering design responsibilities with discipline lead engineer guidance.
• Ensure QC processes and checklists are followed; mentor and develop team members.

Transmission Line Engineer – MBI

Job responsibilities

• Performing Transmission line planning, modelling, analysis and design in PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole and PLS-Tower, foundation designs etc.
• Structural analysis and design of lattice tower and line poles (Steel, LD, Wood) and loading framing trees, plan & profile drawings, authority permit drawings, wire sag and tension analysis, developing design criteria for transmission line design and create bill of materials, engineering estimate, and quality control reviews.
• Monitor and provide regular updates to section manager about progress and activities to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
• Provide technical and engineering expertise along the guide to identify, analyze and resolve problems.
• Plan, organize, estimate, schedule and effectively monitor all work activities.
• Support project team to develop significant engineering solutions
• Participate in regular meeting and corresponding with Clients.
• Ability and willingness to travel as needed within the continental U.S. to support assignments on
• projects and overall office needs.
• Willing to advance in career by taking increased engineering design responsibilities by closely working with discipline lead engineer
• Provide team level accountability for the implementation and tracking of design quality control processes and procedures utilizing all applicable QC forms and checklists.

• Self-starter with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to communicate effectively with internal team members and external clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/master’s degree in electrical/civil engineering, with 2-6 years of experience.
• Minimum 2 years of Power Transmission experience.
• Proficient in the English language.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Computer software knowledge in MS-office, Auto-Cad, MicroStation, Analysis software/ tools, Google Earth, PLS-Tower, PLS-CAD
• Flexibility to work in different roles for different clients both locally and worldwide.
• Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize work.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, AND ACI 318 is preferred.
