Job summary

Talenttap Management Consultants is seeking a Transmission Line Design engineer in Hyderabad, India, to lead route alignment, tower spotting, and structural coordination for HV/EHV projects. You will perform sag/tension analyses, conductor selection, and maintain documentation and tender inputs.

Ideal candidates have BE/B.Tech in Electrical or Civil and 5–7 years of related experience, with hands-on AutoCAD and ideally PLS-CADD. Familiarity with IEC/IEEE/IS standards is required.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Electrical or Civil Engineering.
• M.Tech in Power Systems/Structural preferred.
• 5–7 years in transmission line design (HV/EHV) with experience up to 220kV/400kV/765kV desirable.
• Hands-on with AutoCAD and MS Excel for design calculations.
• PLS-CADD experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Route alignment and profile drawings using survey data.
• Tower spotting and optimization.
• Prepare longitudinal profiles and sag templates.
• Conductor selection and sag/tension calculations.
• Ensure clearances (ground, electrical, statutory) and insulation coordination.
• Coordinate for tower/ foundation design and BOQ.
• Prepare routing maps, tower schedules, stringing charts, and clearance charts.
• Ensure IEC/IEEE/IS standards compliance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Route & Profile Engineering

• Preparation of route alignment drawings using survey data
• Development of tower spotting and optimization
• Preparation of longitudinal profiles and sag templates

2. Electrical & Mechanical Design

• Conductor selection and configuration
• Calculation of: Sag & tension
• Clearances (ground, electrical, statutory)
• Insulation coordination and string configuration

3. Tower & Structural Engineering Coordination

• Selection of tower types (suspension, tension, terminal)
• Coordination with structural team for tower design & loading data
• Review of tower drawings and fabrication details

4. Foundation Engineering Coordination

• Soil data review and classification
• Selection of suitable foundation types
• Coordination for foundation design and BOQ

5. BOQ & Costing (Pre-bid & Execution)

• Preparation of engineering BOQs for transmission line projects
• Quantity estimation for: Towers
• Quantity estimation for: Conductors
• Quantity estimation for: Insulators
• Quantity estimation for: Hardware fittings
• Support in tendering and cost optimization

6. Survey & Site Coordination

• Review of survey reports (topographical, soil investigation)
• Conducting site visits for route validation and issue resolution
• Coordination with execution team during construction

7. Documentation & Drawings

• Preparation and review of: Route maps
• Preparation and review of: Tower schedules
• Preparation and review of: Stringing charts
• Preparation and review of: Clearance charts
• Ensuring proper documentation control

8. Standards & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with: IEC

Candidate Profile

Educational Qualification

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Civil Engineering
• M.Tech (Power Systems / Structural) – Preferred

Experience

• 5–7 years in transmission line design (HV/EHV)
• Experience up to 220kV / 400kV / 765kV lines preferred

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of: Transmission line design principles
• Strong understanding of: Sag-tension calculations
• Strong understanding of: Tower spotting and profiling
• Hands-on experience with: AutoCAD
• Hands-on experience with: MS Excel (for design calculations)
• Exposure to tools like: PLS-CADD (preferred)
