Job summary

Daimler Truck India invites an experienced transmission design engineer to lead the development of gears, bearings, synchronizers, shifting systems and housings across the product lifecycle. You will perform conceptDefinition, performance calculations, DFMEA, GD&T and validation planning with a focus on prototype development and field issue resolution.

The role requires hands-on experience with 3D modeling and CAE tools, collaboration with suppliers, and a drive for cost and weight reduction

Qualifications

• BE Degree in Mechanical/Production/Automobile/Mechatronics with 5–8 years of transmission design experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of gears, bearings, synchronizers, shifting systems and housings.
• Define transmission concepts and perform performance calculations and DFMEA.
• Plan validation activities and support prototype development, testing and field issue resolution.
• Collaborate with suppliers for proprietary transmission parts and cost/weight reduction initiatives.
• Provide technical support to production and drive design release to production.

Experienced in transmission design and development with strong expertise in gears, bearings, synchronizers, shifting systems, housings, and proprietary component development across the product lifecycle. Skilled in transmission concept definition, performance calculations, DFMEA, GD&T, validation planning, and leveraging engineering tools such as KISSsoft, ROMAX, CAE, and 3D modeling software. Proven track record in prototype development, failure analysis, field issue resolution, production support, and driving cost and weight optimization initiatives through design innovation and validation.

• Good knowledge of all components of Transmission & their functions
• Design & development experience of Gears, Bearings, Synchronizers, Shifting system & Housings
• Design & development of Proprietary Transmission parts with suppliers
• Defining new concepts / layouts for Transmission Sub-systems
• Selection of a transmission for a vehicle based on performance calculations & considering B10 Life
• Exposure to 3D Modelling softwares, KISSsoft, ROMAX, CAE Softwares
• Expertise in defining the GD&T on drawings for transmission components
• Expertise in performing DFMEA of all Transmission components & Overall Aggregate
• DVP definition along with Testing team on both Bench & Vehicle level
• Good Knowledge of Manufacturing process, Materials used & Metrology of Transmission parts
• Experience in prototype development for different parts of transmission
• Experience on Failure investigation, Root Cause analysis and countermeasure implementation
• Experience in Root cause analysis & Solution implementation of Field failures
• Technical support to production team to solve concerns
• Idea generation, Design Release, Validation & Implementation of Cost & Weight Reduction measure

• Effective communication & Strong presentation skills to convey complex technical aspects in a simple way to stakeholders and Leadership team
• Strong Project management skills Bring Structure and clarity on the overall milestones to steer projects, adhere to timelines, Sensitize Risks & Provide mitigation plans
