Job summary

Sgb Transformers in Hyderabad seeks an experienced electrical engineer to perform transformer testing, diagnostics, and commissioning. The role spans low to 33kV/110kV+ and 1KVA to 30MVA+ units, with strict adherence to safety.

You will conduct insulation resistance, winding resistance, TTR, SFRA, PD and impedance tests; calibrate equipment; generate reports; and assist NABL/ISO/IEC 17025 audits. Travel to customer sites in Hyderabad will be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in transformer testing and commissioning.
• Knowledge of NABL/ISO/IEC 17025 audits is desirable.
• Willingness to travel to customer locations, especially Hyderabad.

Responsibilities

• Execute transformer testing on power and distribution transformers up to 33kV/110kV+ and 1KVA to 30MVA+.
• Perform insulation resistance, winding resistance, TTR, vector group, magnetic balance and load/no-load loss tests.
• Set up and run advanced tests: Tan Delta, SFRA, partial discharge, and high-voltage dielectric tests.
• Calibrate, maintain and verify laboratory instruments; enforce high-voltage safety and 5S/HSE protocols.
• Prepare, review and file comprehensive test records and reports; assist during NABL/ISO audits.
• Diagnose root-cause issues and coordinate with design/production teams for corrective actions.

Role & responsibilities

• Execute Transformer Testing: Conduct routine, type, and special diagnostic testing on power and distribution transformers (ranging from low voltage up to 33kV/110kV+ or 1KVA to 30MVA+). [1, 2]
• Electrical Diagnostics: Perform fundamental and advanced evaluations including Insulation Resistance (Megger), Winding Resistance, Transformer Turns Ratio (TTR), Vector Group verification, Magnetic Balance, and Load/No-Load Loss tests. [1, 2, 3, 4]
• Advanced & High-Voltage Testing: Set up and run Tan Delta (dissipation factor), Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA), Partial Discharge (PD), and lightning impulse/high-voltage dielectric tests. [1, 2, 3]
• Equipment Calibration & Safety: Maintain, calibrate, and verify electrical instruments within a laboratory environment. Enforce rigorous high-voltage safety rules, 5S practices, and HSE protocols. [1, 2, 3, 4]
• Report Generation & Compliance: Document, compile, and authorize comprehensive test records and certification reports. Assist during major regulatory audits (such as NABL under ISO/IEC 17025, BIS, or IEEE). [1, 2, 3, 4]
