Job Overview
TE Connectivity is expanding stamping parts at Pune Wagholi. The incumbent product engineer will contribute to cost savings through hardware tear down, material characterization, manufacturing process evaluation, competitor product benchmarking, establish cost targets, identify opportunities for cost savings, and build a value engineering project pipeline. Products include relays, connectors, sensors, wire harnesses, contactors, and rugged fiber optic products supporting Energy, Industrial, Medical, Aerospace, Defense and Marine business units.
Responsibilities
- Repair & maintain progressive dies to meet production requirements.
- Modify & perform preventive maintenance of tools as per plan.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose tooling issues during production runs.
- Operate conventional machines such as lathes, milling, and grinding.
- Collaborate with engineers and production team to enhance production efficiency.
- Maintain tooling spare part inventory and proper storage organization.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Engage in Kaizen and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain documentation and follow inline IATF standards.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, and ME to improve productivity.
- Follow Quality Management System and support record‑keeping and audits for all tools.
- Ensure on‑time completion of assigned tasks.
- Ensure all safety requirements are met.
- Follow good engineering practices.
- Provide inputs to estimate labor and materials required for testing.
- Interpret drawings, diagrams, and schematics.
- Multitask and take full ownership of assigned projects.
- Participate and/or lead continuous improvement teams as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Tool & Die Making (NTTF/GTTC/CTTC/IGTR) or equivalent.
- 2–5 years of experience in progressive tool maintenance in stamping.
- Strong knowledge of die maintenance practices, including disassembly, cleaning, repair, and assembly.
- Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing progressive die issues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in using precision measurement instruments for accurate adjustments and repairs.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings.
- Hands‑on experience operating surface grinding machines.
- Knowledge of tool steels and heat‑treatment processes.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
- Experience in preventive maintenance activities for continuous operations.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma tools is an added advantage.
