AECOM India is seeking a Lead Engineer for Rail Electric Track Equipment (Third Rail) projects. You will oversee technical and commercial delivery, lead design teams, and ensure compliance with safety standards across feasibility to construction support.

The role requires 5–10+ years in railway electrification, proficiency in MicroStation/AutoCAD, and strong leadership capabilities. Hybrid work model in Bengaluru is offered with global collaboration opportunities.

Qualifications

  • BE/BTech or ME/MTech in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • Chartered Engineer or PE license or equivalent is preferred.
  • 5–10+ years of experience in railway electrification & power design and delivery.
  • Experience leading projects as checker, CRE or Lead Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the technical and commercial delivery of Rail Electric Track Equipment- ETE (Third Rail) projects, focusing on S&C Renewal works.
  • Design Positive Feeders, Negative Returns, traction substation cabling, conductor rail layouts, and CMS systems per client specs.
  • Prepare design deliverables including technical reports, electrical calculations and CAD drawings.
  • Act as Lead Engineer or checker ensuring compliance with client requirements, standards and safety regulations.
  • Provide technical and commercial oversight, including design planning, risk management and QA.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, constructible design solutions.
  • Ensure designs comply with CDM and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with project lifecycle from feasibility to construction support.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and within a delivery team.
  • Experience with UK/National Rail standards and Eurocodes.

Job Description
  • Lead and manage the technical and commercial delivery of Rail Electric Track Equipment- ETE (Third Rail) projects, with a primary focus on rail Switch & Crossing (S&C) Renewal Works.
  • Design of Positive Feeders and Negative Returns, including traction substation cabling, conductor rail layouts, negative bonding, hook switches, track isolating switches, Cable Routes and Cable Management Sleeper (CMS) systems in line with client specifications.
  • Prepare key elements of design deliverables including technical reports, electrical calculations and CAD drawings in industry standard software
  • Act as Lead Engineer or checker ensuring compliance with client requirements, industry standards and safety regulations
  • Provide technical and commercial oversight, including design planning, risk management and quality assurance
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and constructible design solutions
  • Ensure designs comply with all relevant regulations, including CDM and Health & Safety legislation
  • Familiarity with the full project lifecycle – from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction support
  • Ensure designs comply with all relevant regulations, including CDM and Health & Safety legislation
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a wider delivery team
  • Experienced in the use of international, UK Network Rail, and Railway Group Standards as well as the relevant British Standards and Eurocodes.
Qualifications

Qualification

  • BE/ BTech or ME/MTech degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer (or actively working towards chartership) with a recognised institution (e.g. IET) or Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent in the relevant field from any global organization
  • 5 - 10+ years of experience in railway Electrification & Power design and delivery
  • Experience in leading projects as a checker, CRE or Lead Engineer
  • Deep knowledge of Rail ETE Third rail design, power system analysis, protection setting calculations
  • Strong understanding of CDM Regulations, design safety principles and risk assessment
  • Proficient in use of MicroStation, AutoCAD
  • Strong technical writing, Excellent communication, coordination and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A collaborative and proactive mindset with the ability to lead, mentor and influence others
