Job Description
- Lead in the production of track designs and provision of technical support throughout all stages of the design process (Feasibility through to Construction) in both Plain Line and S&C.
- Independently deliver / manage the production of design deliverables in accordance with client requirements.
- Act as a Senior technical resource and serve as technical advisor and/or mentor for lesser experienced team members.
- Provide specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
- Develop study and design procedures to facilitate high‑quality cost‑effective work by others.
- Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
- Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
- Use expertise in all steps of completing discipline component.
- Perform quality control review of design calculations, models, or drawings.
- Prepare technical specification sections.
- Provide input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
- Show agility in the face of dynamic project stages. This position may also be leading similar designs in other global regions if required.
Qualifications
- Master of Engineering degree or Bachelor degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline from an accredited college or university. Washington Accord accredited preferred.
- Registered, Professional or Chartered Engineer, or eligible for qualification or working towards.
- 15+ years of Track Design experience in both greenfield and brownfield projects with substantial experience in international projects, preferably in the Middle East, UK, USA and Canada.
- Proficiency in both Bentley ORD package and Autodesk Civil3D.
- Extensive experience and technical proficiency in Plain Line and Switches & Crossings mandatory.
- Experience with earthworks, including cut and fill modelling and quantity estimation.
- Solid understanding of Track Design including interpretation of Standards and application of SiD, HSE regulations.
- Solid understanding of track construction methods, stageworks of projects, Permanent Way components and surveys.
- Working knowledge of AREMA standards.
- Demonstrated ability to author technical reports.
- Demonstrated ability to present their work and represent their colleagues on the project in presentations and meetings.
- Technical quality of deliverables – undertaking checks of design deliverables completed by team members in accordance with company procedures.
- Timely delivery in accordance with design programmes.
- Experience attending technical design reviews including Design and Construction Interface meetings and Interdisciplinary Design Checks to present Track design.
- Keep up to date with industry best practices and where appropriate apply best practices within the project team environment.
