Job summary

Qualifications

  • Preference for 1‑3 years of related work experience including Windows programming and embedded software development.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Automated Test Equipment (ATE) for electronic and electrical control systems.
  • Assist in or lead the creation of test plans, specifications, and validation strategies.
  • Develop, modify, and maintain test applications using NI LabVIEW and TestStand with scalable, reusable code.
  • Support hardware and software upgrades to test platforms and manage BOM updates.
  • Document test system designs, procedures, validation reports, and support activities.

Job Description Summary

We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Test Systems Engineer to support the design, development, and maintenance of automated test systems used in testing electronic and control system products, including turbine controls, distributed control systems, excitation systems, and static starter technologies.


The engineer will either work under guidance to learn test system development fundamentals or independently lead complex test system design, programming, validation, and global deployment efforts. This position offers hands‑on exposure to electrical test systems, Automated Test Equipment (ATE), and industry‑standard tools in a manufacturing environment.


Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will be assigned based on experience level and may include:



  • Design, develop, and maintain Automated Test Equipment (ATE) for electronic and electrical control systems.

  • Assist in or lead the creation of test plans, test specifications, and validation strategies based on product and manufacturing requirements.

  • Develop, modify, and maintain test applications using NI LabVIEW and TestStand, ensuring scalable, reusable, and maintainable code.

  • Support or lead hardware and software upgrades to test platforms, including toolchain updates and hardware obsolescence management.

  • Maintain, calibrate, and support electrical test systems, including test fixtures, tools, and spare parts.

  • Troubleshoot test failures and system performance issues through hardware- and software-level debugging and root cause analysis.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to align test solutions with business and product needs.

  • Support source code management activities, including firmware updates, configuration changes, and BOM (Bill of Materials) updates.

  • Contribute to or lead global deployment and standardization of test systems across manufacturing sites.

  • Document test system designs, test procedures, validation reports, and support activities in accordance with engineering and quality standards.

  • Learn and apply industry best practices for testing, debugging, and maintaining electrical and electronic control systems.


Desired Characteristics / qualifications


  • Electrical / Electronics / Software Engineering Bachelor Degree

  • Strong expertise in C and C++ programming

  • Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Visual Studio

  • Preferrable 1-3 years of relevant work experience in either/or (both desirable):

    • Windows programming, such as development of console-based applications

    • Strong foundation in control systems, electrical and electronics engineering, embedded application software development



  • Knowledge and hands‑on experience with NI LabVIEW and TestStand beneficial but not mandatory
