Job summary

MSC Transformers Pvt Ltd in Pune, India, is seeking a Electrical Testing Technician to perform routine and type tests on power and distribution transformers in accordance with IS/IEC standards.

You will conduct insulation resistance, winding resistance, TTR, No-Load, Short-Circuit, HV, and related tests, generate accurate test certificates, and ensure compliance with drawings, specs, and customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience with routine and type testing of transformers as per IS/IEC standards.
• Ability to analyze test results and prepare clear test reports and certificates.
• Hands-on knowledge of transformer testing equipment and instrumentation.
• Familiarity with SAP for testing-related entries and data management.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and type tests on power and distribution transformers per standards.
• Prepare and verify Test Reports, Certificates, and inspection documents.
• Coordinate with Production and Quality for corrective actions on deviations.
• Maintain records of test results and ensure calibration of instruments.
• Assist in site inspections and customer/third-party audits as required.

Job description

Job Description:

• Perform routine and type tests on power and distribution transformers as per applicable IS/IEC standards.
• Conduct electrical testing of transformers, including:
  • Insulation Resistance (IR) Test
  • Winding Resistance Test
  • Transformer Turns Ratio (TTR) Test
  • No-Load / Open Circuit Test
  • Short Circuit / Load Loss Test
  • High Voltage (HV) Test
  • Induced Voltage Test
  • Vector Group Test
  • Magnetic Balance Test
  • Oil BDV Test
• Prepare and verify Test Reports, Test Certificates, and inspection documents.
• Ensure testing is carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Identify testing failures/deviations and coordinate with the Production and Quality teams for corrective action.
• Maintain proper records of test results and testing equipment.
• Ensure proper calibration and availability of testing instruments.
• Coordinate with customer/third-party inspectors during inspection and testing.
• Support final inspection and dispatch clearance of transformers.
• Follow all quality, safety, and testing procedures.

Requirements

Qualification

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering preferred.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of Power & Distribution Transformer Testing.
• Hands-on experience in routine and type testing of transformers.
• Good knowledge of IS/IEC standards applicable to transformers.
• Practical experience with Transformer Testing Equipment and Instruments.
• Ability to perform and analyze IR, Winding Resistance, TTR, No-Load, Load Loss, HV, Induced Voltage, Vector Group, and other routine tests.
• Ability to identify test failures, deviations, and technical issues and coordinate for corrective actions.
• Good knowledge of Test Reports, Test Certificates, and inspection documentation.
• Hands-on experience in SAP for testing-related entries, documentation, and data management.
• Knowledge of testing procedures, safety practices, and calibration requirements.
• Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
