Job summary

Angel and Genie in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, seeks a Principal Engineer/Lead Engineer to drive power electronics design and testing for welding and plasma cutting power supplies. You will work within the Innovations team on analog/digital circuits, DC-DC converters, GaN/SiC devices, and EMC/EMI mitigation while coordinating with suppliers and offsite testing.

Ideal candidates have 15–20 years of experience, a Master’s or Bachelor’s in Electrical/Electronics or Power Electronics, and strong English

Qualifications

• Sound knowledge in analog/digital circuits design.
• DC-DC converter knowledge.
• IGA/MOSFET/SCRs and GaN/SiC knowledge.
• Modeling/simulation in MATLAB, LTspice.
• Signal conditioning using op amps/comparators.
• Closed loop control using analog/digital PWM controllers.
• Electrical components, wires/cables specs.
• DFM/ DFA/ DFT per IEC/IPC.
• Experience with Altium tools.
• Experience welding/cutting and power converter design (preferred).
• Mentoring Electronic Design Engineers.

Responsibilities

• Develop power electronics design and testing for welding and plasma cutting power supplies.
• Conduct laboratory testing and support offsite testing.
• Collaborate with suppliers to enable efficient manufacturing solutions.
• Support hardware development and product qualification.
• Engage with global engineers for DFM/ DFA/ DFT and ensure IEC/IPC compliance.
• Review schematics and perform electrical, thermal, and mechanical analyses.

Position Title: Principal Engineer/Lead Engineer- Power Electronics Design and Testing

Location (city & State/Country): India/Tamil Nadu/Chennai/Ambattur

Experience- 15-20years

Salary- 20-25 Lakhs PA

Position Overview

• The role is to work within the Innovations team to develop new products in the field of Welding and Plasma Cutting Power supplies and peripherals.
• The role will involve Power Electronics and control Electronics design activities, testing activities in our laboratory and supporting offsite testing, working with suppliers to develop efficient manufacturing solutions, and supporting the team with hardware development.

Duties & Responsibilities

• The Candidate shall be capable of having sound knowledge in analog/digital circuits design.
• Sound knowledge in DC-DC converter
• Good knowledge and understanding specification of IGBT's MOSFET & SCR's and advanced components like GaN, SiC.
• Sound knowledge in modeling and simulation of power electronics circuits in MATLAB, LTspice
• Capable of designing signal conditioning circuits using op amp and comparators
• Good knowledge on closed loop control design using analog and digital PWM controllers.
• Good knowledge and understanding electrical components & wire and cables specification.
• Interact with global Electrical/Mechanical Engineers (India, Sweden, Poland and USA) to accomplish design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT) according to industry standards such as IEC, IPC etc.

Qualifications

Language Capabilities

• Fluent in English (read, write, speak), any other language is a plus.

Education Requirements

• Masters/bachelor's degree in engineering in Electrical/Electronics or Power Electronics
• Clear communication in English

Technical Requirements

• Demonstrated Experience in design Electrical and Power Electronics circuits
• Modeling and simulation of Power Electronics circuits using Ltspice, Pspice or PSIM etc,
• Design, Testing , qualification and reporting of an electronic product.
• Good understanding of EMI/EMC and mitigation techniques
• Sound knowledge on power electronics basic, converter and inverter analysis, and simulation
• Sound knowledge in analog and digital electronics; able to read and understand the schematics
• Experience in design of ECAD and demonstrated competency in bringup PCBAs
• Knowledge in Electronic trouble shooting and problem solving skills
• Understanding of Microcontrollers and digital circuits; experience in working with the Embedded Engineers
• Knowledge in Product development tools like DFMEA and DFX
• Mentoring the Electronic Design Engineers for the product development and system integration
• Performing electrical, thermal, and mechanical analysis and testing of power electronics products.

Experience Requirements

• Should have >12 years experience in the relevant field (for Bachelor of Engineering)
• Should have >9 years experience in the relevant field (for Master of Engineering)
• Preferrable to have experience in Welding/Cutting and Power Converter design
• Preferrable to have experience in Altium tools

Mobility & Travel Requirements

• Willing to travel to onsite for design reviews and External Lab Testing based on the Project needs
• Having an USA business visa is an added advantage
