Job summary

Hitachi Energy’s Enterprise Software R&D Unit is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to build and maintain automated tests, improve software quality, and support reliable product releases using modern tools and practices. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and report to the R&D Team Manager.

You will design, develop, and execute automated test scripts (Playwright with JavaScript/TypeScript), perform API testing with Postman and Karate, and maintain test cases and regression suites

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or related field.
• 5–8 years’ automation experience with test scenarios.
• Experience with QA databases and applications; strong analytical skills.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright, JavaScript/TypeScript, VS Code, Git, Jira, Zephyr Scale, Postman, Karate, API automation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans to ensure objectives are met.
• Test software features to verify designs and outcomes.
• Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts with Playwright (JS/TS).
• Implement and monitor test automation to assess quality and identify defects.
• Perform API testing and API automation using Postman and Karate.
• Create and maintain test cases, execute manual tests, run regression suites, and track defects (Jira, Zephyr Scale).
• Recommend and monitor actions to uphold QA standards; analyze data.
• Draft QA policies and ensure user expectations during testing are met.
• Investigate customer complaints and product issues.
• Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.

The Opportunity:

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and maintain automated tests, improve software quality, and support reliable product releases using modern tools and practices. How You’ll Make an Impact:

• To develop and execute test plans to ensure that all objectives are met.
• To test software features and systems to determine success in achieving the intended designs and outcomes.
• To design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts usingPlaywright with JavaScript/TypeScript.
• To implement and monitor test automation scripts to assess functionality, reliability, performance, and quality of the service or product and identify and remedy defects within the production process.
• To perform API testing and API automation usingPostman and Karate Framework.
• To create and maintain test cases, manual test execution, regression suites, and defect tracking usingJira and Zephyr Scale.
• Recommend, implement, and monitor preventative and corrective actions to ensure that quality assurance standards are upheld. Compile and analyze statistical data.
• To ensure that user expectations are met during the testing process and draft quality assurance policies and procedures.
• Investigate customer complaints and product issues.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background:

• Required bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related field with 5 to 8 years’ experience in automation of test scenarios. Experience in quality inspection, auditing, and testing.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong computer skills and knowledge of QA databases and applications, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Hands On Experience in Software –Playwright Automation / JavaScript / TypeScript / VS Code / Git / Test Planning / Test Cases / Manual Test Execution / Jira / Zephyr Scale / Postman / Karate Framework / API Automation.
• Expert Knowledge of programming languageJavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Python. Meticulous attention to detail.
• Knowledge of the following will be a plus -Selenium / Java / Eclipse / BDD Frameworks / TDD Frameworks / SQL / XML / Json / PostgreSQL / Appium / Mobile Automation / CI/CD Concepts / GitHub Copilot / Excellent Verbal and Writing Skills.
• Good database skills with knowledge ofSQL & Postgres.
