Job Profile
The Manager Tendering is responsible for identifying business opportunities, managing the end-to-end tendering process, and preparing competitive bids for construction projects. The role involves coordination across technical, commercial, and financial teams to ensure timely and successful bid submissions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tender Identification & Prequalification
- Identify new tender opportunities from clients, portals, and networks
- Review eligibility criteria, scope, and project requirements
- Prepare and submit prequalification (PQ) documents
- Track upcoming tenders and maintain tender databases
2. Tender Analysis
- Study tender documents, drawings, BOQ, and specifications
- Analyse contract conditions and identify risks/opportunities
- Conduct site visits (if required) to assess project conditions
- Prepare tender queries and seek clarifications from clients
3. Bid Preparation & Submission
- Coordinate with estimation, design, planning, procurement, and finance teams
- Prepare techno-commercial bids in line with client requirements
- Compile all technical documents, methodologies, and schedules
- Ensure timely and compliant submission of bids
4. Commercial Evaluation & Pricing Strategy
- Develop competitive pricing strategies in coordination with estimation team
- Analyse cost inputs, margins, and risk factors
- Review subcontractor/vendor quotations
- Support management in final bid pricing decisions
5. Negotiation & Post-Tender Activities
- Participate in post-bid discussions and negotiations with clients
- Clarify technical and commercial aspects of the bid
- Support contract finalization and handover to project execution team
6. Risk Management
- Identify technical, commercial, and contractual risks during tender stage
- Suggest mitigation strategies and contingencies
- Ensure all risks are properly documented and communicated
7. Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with internal teams (estimation, contracts, finance, legal)
- Coordinate with external stakeholders (clients, consultants, vendors)
- Ensure alignment across all departments for successful bidding
8. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain records of tender submissions, results, and feedback
- Prepare bid summaries, MIS reports, and management presentations
- Analyse lost tenders to improve future bid strategies
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of tendering processes and bid management
- Understanding of BOQ, estimation, and contract conditions
- Excellent coordination and project management skills
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
- Effective communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ERP systems
Preferred Experience
- Experience in infrastructure, EPC, real estate, or industrial projects
- Exposure to government and private sector tenders
- Familiarity with e-tendering platforms
