• 5+ years of experience in InDesign Template development.
• 3+ years’ experience in JavaScript and XSLT scripting.
• Strong Perl/Java scripting experience in InDesign workflows.
• Ability to create scripts with XML and non-XML environments.
• Willingness to provide production support and mentor developers.

Role Description

The Template Developer at CJK KnowledgeWorks Global (KGL) will design, develop, and maintain templates used for publishing workflows, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compatibility with production systems. This full-time, on-site role in Chennai involves coding and configuring templates based on client specifications, content structures, and style guidelines, as well as optimizing templates for performance and reliability. The role includes collaborating with content, production, and technology teams to understand requirements, troubleshoot issues, and support smooth end-to-end publishing processes. The Template Developer will also participate in testing, documentation, and continuous improvement of template standards, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and quality.

Qualifications

• Solid foundation in Computer Science, including understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Skills in Back-End Web Development and Software Development for building, integrating, and maintaining template-driven systems.
• Proficiency in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) to implement, extend, and optimize template functionalities.
• Experience with markup and scripting languages commonly used in publishing (such as XML, HTML, CSS, and relevant scripting tools) is highly beneficial.
• Ability to analyze requirements, translate specifications into technical solutions, and debug complex template or workflow issues.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a production-focused environment.
• Familiarity with publishing platforms, content management systems, or digital production workflows is an advantage.

• Must have min 5+ years of experience in InDesign Template development
• Possess 3+ years’ experience in JavaScript ,XSLT Scripting
• Strong in Perl/Java scripts in INDESIGNWorkflow
• Should be able to create script with XML and Non-XML environment
• Be able to work independently and produce well-designed, easily maintainable c
• Be willing to provide production support whenever neededXSLT, Acrobat Professional and Photoshop scripting will be added advantage
• To develop new functionalities using JAVA scripting in InDesign
• To lead/mentor developers and disseminate knowledge through knowledge-sharing presentations
• To be a part of a strong, experienced, energetic team working on a rapid, agile development schedule
• To initiate self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company
• To provide technical support to the production team
