Responsibilities

Job Summary:

Performance

• Independently manage certification projects concurrently, ensuring compliance with all applicable safety requirements, achieving completion within time frames and cost deadlines. Evaluate products against the requirements of national and international standards and precedent decisions.
• Handle a wide spectrum of projects, including those that are complex and generating high revenue levels.
• Deliver assigned projects and tests within agreed timescales the majority of the time.
• Demonstrate the ability to accurately manage project costs within the agreed budget.
• Maintain good productivity in line with company expectations.
• Demonstrate technical competence to review the work of others per divisional quality documents.
• Perform witness testing per divisional quality documents.
• Review test data and reports, authorize the application of the CSA Mark, and prepare and/or sign certification reports and certificates of compliance.
• Provide clients with assistance in solving problems and failures without divulging proprietary information.

Customer

• Work with sales to support current clients and develop new client opportunities to support growth.
• Prepare project quotations for cost and time.
• Explain the different product certification programs available to clients and the requirements for control of production.

Testing

• Perform within established DQD guidelines.
• Prepare test lab work orders and special testing documentation that includes details regarding applicable sections of relevant standards, test sample plans, data collection methods and tables, job hazard analysis, and any other instructions.
• Provide necessary guidance to lab technicians to ensure proper application of requirements and data collection methods.
• Demonstrate experience performing common testing within CSA laboratories.
• Make field trips and witness test work at manufacturers’ facilities as required.

Self Development

• Subject to internal audits for compliance and competence.
• Participate in CSA Group continuous improvement and innovation projects.
• Make recommendations on new programs and equipment to expand core capabilities.
• Generate ideas to improve laboratory safety.
• Become fully knowledgeable in all national and international standards through research of standards, documentation, bulletins, and technical articles in the area of specialty. Recommend revisions to ensure technical consistency to resolve issues of pertinent practices, processes, and precedents.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with likely 5 years of job‑related experience, or diploma in engineering with likely 7 years of job‑related experience.
