Job Description

Technician - Endoscopy is responsible for preparing and supporting endoscopic procedures by ensuring the readiness of endoscopy equipment, instruments, consumables, and procedure rooms. The includes assisting doctors and nursing staff during procedures, handling endoscopy equipment, supporting patient preparation and transfer, maintaining infection prevention and reprocessing standards, monitoring equipment functionality, maintaining documentation, and coordinating with relevant clinical and support departments.

• Prepare the endoscopy room before scheduled procedures.
• Check endoscopes, monitors, accessories, and other equipment for readiness.
• Ensure availability of required instruments, consumables, and emergency supplies.
• Prepare and arrange equipment according to the planned procedure.
• Assist gastroenterologists and nursing staff during endoscopic procedures.
• Support patient preparation, positioning, transfer, and safety requirements.
• Assist with handling and safe operation of endoscopy equipment as trained.
• Monitor equipment performance during procedures and report abnormalities.
• Assist with specimen collection, labeling, and transfer according to protocol.
• Support emergency procedures and resuscitation when required.
• Follow strict infection prevention and aseptic practices.
• Carry out cleaning, disinfection and reprocessing of endoscopic equipment according to approved protocols.
• Coordinate with CSSD and other departments for equipment and instrument requirements where applicable.
• Maintain endoscopy registers, procedure records, checklists, and equipment logs.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of endoscopic instruments and accessories.
• Report equipment malfunction, damage, or shortages prompt.
• Coordinate with biomedical engineering for equipment maintenance and repair.
• Assist with post-procedure room cleaning and preparation for the next case.
• Follow biomedical waste management and safety procedures.
• Participate in endoscopy quality audits, training and infection control activities.
